According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a friendly atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed their delight at the results of the very successful phone call on August 14 between General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and President of the Cambodian People's Party and President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen, affirming that they will promote the effective implementation of the opinions agreed upon by the heads of the two Parties; inform each other about the situation in each country and agree on key directions to further deepen cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, especially in the fields of connectivity, trade and investment.
The two Prime Ministers expressed their delight at the important results achieved at the Bi-Party Summit and the Summit between the three Heads of the Three Parties as well as the three Prime Ministers of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos in February 2025; agreed to continue to strengthen political trust, promote existing cooperation mechanisms according to the motto of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability. The two sides agreed to continue improving the effectiveness of economic cooperation in the spirit of "harmonious benefits, shared risks", bringing bilateral trade turnover to the target of 20 billion USD soon; promoting local connectivity in a practical and effective direction, while developing the border gate economy, facilitating cross-border trade and investment and continuing to negotiate and resolve remaining problems in boundary and markering.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was pleased to see that after two years of taking on the position of head of the Royal Government, Prime Minister Hun Manet has promoted infrastructure development, the economy has grown positively, and the lives of Cambodian people have been increasingly improved.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the Cambodian side continue to pay attention to and create conditions for naturalization for people of Vietnamese origin who are qualified as well as create conditions for people of Vietnamese origin to stabilize their lives, integrate and actively contribute to Cambodian society.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also suggested that the Cambodian side create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to do business stably and expand investment in Cambodia.
Regarding the international and regional situation, the two Prime Ministers exchanged and shared views on issues of mutual concern.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam supports efforts to peacefully resolve all disputes in accordance with international law and practice, emphasizing that Vietnam will continue to work with ASEAN member countries to promote the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on July 28, 2025 to promote ASEAN's central role for peace, cooperation and development in the region.
