Speaking at the program, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that the Vietnam National Unity - Cultural Heritage Week 2025 is an annual activity with practical significance to celebrate the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18) and Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23). an opportunity to strengthen and enhance the strength of the great national unity bloc under the leadership of the Party; honor, preserve and promote the good traditional cultural values of the ethnic community, enrich the identity and unity in the diversity of Vietnamese culture.
The Minister affirmed that cultural heritage is crystallized from creativity in labor and production; is a typical spiritual and material value. Great solidarity is the strength of the nation. Prioritizing resources for preserving and promoting traditional cultural values
Speaking at the program, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that today's event is of special significance in the atmosphere of the whole country towards the 14th National Congress of the Party - a milestone in the country's journey of innovation and development. At the same time, celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front - Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2025) and Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23). The event took place in the spirit of solidarity - one heart - towards the Carnival region.
This is also an opportunity to honor the traditional cultural values, unity in diversity of 54 ethnic groups; review the tradition of gratitude for the past, honor the present and arouse aspirations for the future; be a meaningful forum for ethnic groups to meet, exchange, learn from each other, together build a new cultural life, strengthen the great national unity bloc.
In particular, the 2nd Muong Ethnic Culture Festival is a special highlight, contributing to a vivid and complete introduction of the identity of Muong ethnic culture - one of the ethnic groups with a large population, ancient and rich culture.
The Prime Minister affirmed that our Party and State have identified culture as the endogenous strength of the nation, the spiritual foundation of the people. Culture must truly become a driving force, an important resource to promote national development; a soft power to enhance the country's position in the international arena.
To concretize the creative and correct cultural guidelines of the Party and State, the Government continues to resolutely direct the work of preserving and promoting the good traditional cultural values and heritages of the nation, achieving many outstanding results. Of which, thousands of tangible and intangible cultural heritages have been inventoried and ranked at the national level. Many cultural heritages have been honored by UNESCO, becoming representative heritages of the human race.
Many traditional festivals, handicrafts, and folk knowledge have been restored and taught, becoming important resources for local economic development. Many traditional craft villages have been restored, OCOP products with cultural characteristics and regional advantages have reached the international market.
Developing heritage-based cultural tourism has contributed significantly to gradually making tourism a spearhead economic sector, promoting socio-economic development, creating sustainable jobs for millions of workers, especially in ethnic minority areas, remote areas, disadvantaged border areas, and islands.
The Prime Minister assessed that among these achievements, the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village is a vivid symbol. After more than 15 years of construction and development, from the policies of the Party and State, the Village has truly become a "Common House" of 54 ethnic groups - a place where gathering, performing, transmitting and spreading the unique cultural values of ethnic groups; where domestic and foreign tourists can experience and feel the breath of Vietnamese culture in diversity.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister welcomed and commended the drastic efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the close coordination of ministries, central and local branches and relevant agencies that have made an important contribution to the common achievements in cultural development in recent times.
The Prime Minister also praised the role of artisans, prestigious people in the community and ethnic minorities, the "living human resources" that are day and night preserving the national cultural flame, so that cultural values do not fade away and continue to live forever.
In addition to the achievements, the Prime Minister also frankly acknowledged that the work of preserving and conserving the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups still faces many challenges. Specifically, some languages, writing materials, and customs are at risk of being lost under the impact of the market economy and the penetration of foreign culture.
Many heritages are threatened by a shortage of resources and the decline of the elderly generation of artisans without timely inheritance from the younger generation. Complete institutions and policies, issue mechanisms to support artisans, craft villages, and cultural enterprises; prioritize resources for preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic groups and developing cultural infrastructure. The Government will continue to decentralize, delegate authority, strengthen supervision and inspection; encourage public-private cooperation to mobilize all resources for the development of Vietnamese culture and people.
The Prime Minister also suggested investing resources reasonably and effectively in cooperation programs and cultural conservation projects; especially heritages at risk of extinction; closely linking conservation work with sustainable tourism development and poverty reduction, so that culture can truly become an asset, bringing economic benefits to people and the country.
In addition, it is necessary to build unique, environmentally friendly cultural tourism products, protect the interests of the community and locality; support artisans in passing on their craft to the younger generation; apply digital technology in heritage promotion, build a community tourism model to help people in remote, isolated, ethnic minority areas... participate and enjoy.
In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to grassroots cultural life in ethnic minority areas, ensuring fairness in cultural enjoyment; strengthening propaganda about the value of national solidarity among the younger generation; and bringing cultural heritage into the education system and community activities. Press agencies and social networks need to step up propaganda, introduce educational programs, documentaries, and exhibitions so that the younger generation can understand and be more proud of the identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups.
Promote the role of the Vietnam Ethnic Culture - Tourism Village as a national and international cultural center, where regularly exchange activities, exchanges and performances of unique cultures of ethnic groups and regions are held. The village needs to continue to receive synchronous investment in infrastructure, develop sustainable cultural tourism products; promote propaganda and promotion; increase the reception of artisans and ethnic minorities for daily activities; expand cultural experience and education programs for the community, students.
