On March 6, the Government Office announced that it had just issued Document No. 1774/VPCP-CN conveying the opinion of Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on reviewing the responsibility for implementing component project 4, Long Thanh International Airport project (Long Thanh airport).
Considering the report of the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) in Document No. 25/BGTVT-TCCB dated February 19, 2025 on the implementation of the Prime Minister's direction on reviewing the responsibility for slow implementation of component project 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has the following opinion:
The Ministry of Construction has learned from experience in organizing the implementation of assigned tasks for component project 4, Long Thanh airport phase 1.
The Minister of Construction, the Minister, and the Head of the Government Office officially announced on the Government and the Ministry of Construction's Electronic Information Portal the results of handling the Prime Minister's direction regarding the delay in implementing component project 4, Long Thanh airport phase 1 (send the implementation results to the Government Office before March 10, 2025).
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Construction to urgently urge and direct the implementation of the Long Thanh airport project phase 1, ensuring basic completion before December 31, 2025 according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
The Long Thanh airport project includes 4 component projects: Component project 1 (headquarters of state agencies); Component project 2 (works serving flight management); Component project 3 (essential works); Component project 4 (land service works).
In particular, in component project 4, some packages are behind schedule, which may affect the operation of the entire airport.
According to Decision No. 1777/QD-TTg dated November 11, 2020 of the Prime Minister approving the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1, Component Project 4 includes 17 construction items, divided into 2 groups:
The group of project items 4a (included in the total investment of the Project) includes the following items: Cargo terminal No. 21, Express delivery terminal; Cargo delivery warehouse No. 1; Aircraft sanitation Area No. 1; ground service vehicle maintenance area No. 1; Airtime food supply area No. 1; Solar power system.
The group of 4b project items (not included in the total investment of the Project) includes the following items: Fuel pipeline system for aircraft from the upstream port to the boundary of Long Thanh International Airport; Aircraft sanitation Area No. 2; Land service vehicle maintenance area No. 2; Cargo handling area No. 2 to No. 8; Airline catering area No. 2; Airline operations center; Aircraft maintenance area (hangar); Airports city; Airports industrial park; Air logistics area.
