Border province collects record high budget, border gate economy hits peak of 86 billion USD

Lang Son - The province has achieved many breakthroughs in 2025 with a record high budget revenue. The border economy also hit a peak of 86 billion USD.

On December 9, at the 44th session of the 17th Provincial People's Council, the People's Committee of Lang Son province presented a report on the socio-economic development results in 2025 and tasks for 2026.

In 2025, the province's GRDP will increase by 8.06%, exceeding the target assigned by the Government. The economic structure shifted in the right direction, services played a key role. clearing activities maintain a high pace at Huu Nghi, Tan Thanh, and Coc Nam border gates, with an average of 1,700 vehicles/day, at times exceeding 2,000.

Total import-export turnover reached 86.14 billion USD, up 44.6%. Local exports reached 183 million USD, up 8.28%. Smart border gate projects, Tan Thanh - Po Chai border transit and cooperation areas are being promoted, creating new momentum for the border gate economy.

Budget revenue reached VND18,063 billion, exceeding the estimate by 68%. Revenue from import and export reached VND13,300 billion, the highest level ever.

Disbursement of public investment capital reached 107.6% of the plan assigned by the Central Government, equivalent to VND 6,795 billion. The province has selected 22 key projects to focus on directing, of which many large projects have started construction.

Last year, the province completed many important planning projects, including adjusting the Dong Dang - Lang Son Economic Zone Planning to 2045 and the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

The cultural and social fields have changed positively. The high school graduation rate reached 99.19%. The province started construction of 4 ethnic boarding schools in border communes. The health insurance coverage rate is 95%. The measles vaccination rate reached 97.3%, the highest in the country.

The province supported the construction and repair of 6,508 houses, reducing the poverty rate to 1.36%. Lang Son welcomed 4.44 million visitors, with revenue of VND 4,500 billion. The province is recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark. Quynh Son village was honored as "Best tourist village in the world 2025".

Security and order are guaranteed. The province successfully organized the 9th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

Anti-smuggling and trade fraud work has been vigorously implemented: 4,234 violations, fined 96 billion VND; prosecuted 288 cases with 527 subjects.

The province signed 22 international cooperation agreements, including many important contents with Guangxi (China).

In addition to the results, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Canh Toan pointed out some limitations such as some departments and localities lacking determination; digital infrastructure is not yet synchronous; site clearance is slow; tourism products are not abundant; the National Target Program for Ethnic Minority Areas is slow to be implemented.

The Provincial People's Council agreed on the target for 2026: GRDP increased by 10-11%; GRDP per capita reached 78-79 million VND; digital economy accounted for 18% of GRDP; tourism reached 4.7 million visitors; reduced 2% of poor households; replanted 9,000 hectares of forest; reduced at least 5% of traffic accidents and crimes.

The province aims to continue promoting innovation, digital transformation, perfecting the two-level government model and strongly improving the investment environment.

The session reviewed and approved 24 resolutions, including 3 personnel resolutions and 21 resolutions in many fields; at the same time, organized discussions and questions on issues of concern to voters.
