Dong Thap Electronic Information Portal reported that in preparation for the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030, on the afternoon of July 31, Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee held a conference to collect comments from the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee through the periods on draft documents to submit to the Congress.
The conference acknowledged many enthusiastic opinions from the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee over the years. Accordingly, the common point in all opinions is that the merger of the two provinces (Dong Thap and Tien Giang into the new Dong Thap province) is not only a combination of administrative boundaries, but needs to be viewed as the formation of a new province, with a new vision, new structure and new motivation. In which, the economy is the center, Party building is the key, the orientations must be linked to current practical conditions.
All opinions emphasized the harmony, solidarity and similarities in culture and society between the two localities.
According to Comrade Tran Thi Kim Cuc - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee, the new province must inherit the spirit of "brother in house", solidarity to move forward together. Along with that, developing border areas associated with national defense and security and improving people's lives; investing in large-scale regional hospitals in Kaohsiung to meet the needs of medical examination and treatment for the entire neighboring area.
The former Standing Comrades of the Provincial Party Committee also commented on the historical heritage, promoting lessons in the exploration of the ancient Dinh Tuong Tower and the land of the Duong River, which is assessed to have many special historical and cultural values, a long tradition of trade, and the potential to become a driving force for industry and trade.
Regarding science and technology, the former Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee suggested that the province should focus on exploiting applied research; developing the private economy, training a force of good and professional cadres to serve the people; paying attention to the target of state budget revenue.
In parallel with strategic tasks and goals, perfecting institutions and the two-level administrative apparatus after the merger is also an issue that needs special attention, in order to ensure effective and streamlined operation.
Receiving comments from the Standing Comrades of the Provincial Party Committee through the periods, Mr. Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee - affirmed that the draft political report was built in the spirit of a vision, an aspiration and a unified locality under the direction of the Central Committee.
The Provincial Party Committee will accept the opinions of former provincial leaders to supplement and improve in the coming time, including reviewing to ensure harmony and inherit the achievements of the two previous provinces; the Congress documents will be concise, concise, easy to understand, creating high consensus among the people.
