On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025), General Secretary To Lam sent a congratulatory letter to First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.

"Dear Miguel Diaz Canel - Bermudez!
We are approaching the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025), an opportunity to review this important event in the relationship between the two countries.
On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and People of Vietnam, I respectfully send my warmest wishes to you and through you to the revolutionary leader, General Raul Castro Ruz, you in the senior leadership and people of Cuba.
President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro Ruz laid the foundation for the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, our two brotherly peoples despite being half a world apart.
We are proud to affirm that the first seeds of the Vietnam - Cuba friendship planted by National Hero Jose Marti have sprouted, developed green and continuously flowered and beared fruit in the glorious but arduous and challenging journey over the past 65 years.
In the spirit of both comrades and brothers, generations of leaders and people of the two countries have worked hard to foster, constantly consolidate and firmly build the traditional, loyal, united and mutually supportive relationship between the two Parties, the State and the People of the two countries.
Overcoming many historical events and ups and downs, the Vietnam - Cuba relationship has become an invaluable common asset of the two peoples, a shining model in international relations.
Inheriting and promoting that noble tradition of friendship, in the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year 2025, the two sides coordinated to organize many important commemorative activities in each country, contributing to the propaganda and education of the young generation about the exemplary, loyal and pure relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.
In particular, the successful State visit to Vietnam by Mr. and Mrs. Cuba has created a milestone to bring the Vietnam - Cuba relationship to a new height.
Entering 2026, Vietnam and Cuba will hold the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 9th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba - two important political events that orient our development future in the next 5 years.
Under the light of the resolutions of the Congresses, with the priority position we give to each other in each country's foreign policy, the Vietnam - Cuba relationship will have more favorable conditions to enter a new stage of development, making a practical contribution to the successful construction of socialism in each country.
I firmly believe that, with the solid foundation of the close friendship that has been cultivated and tested over the past 65 years, with the political determination of the leaders of the two countries, the close brotherhood between Vietnam and Cuba will continue to develop deeply and effectively, bringing benefits to the people and serving the sustainable development goals of the two countries, actively contributing to peace, stability and prosperity in the two regions and the world.
I would like to send my most respectful greetings to the First Secretary and President.
