President of Senegal suggests Vietnam soon open a diplomatic representative office in Dakar

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye suggested that Vietnam soon consider opening a diplomatic representative office in the capital Dakar, Senegal.

On the afternoon of July 23 (local time), within the framework of an official visit to Senegal, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with President Senegal Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

President of Senegal expressed his pleasure and appreciation for the official visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to Senegal.

The President affirmed that the first visit of a key Vietnamese leader to Sensible since the two countries established diplomatic relations is an important milestone in further promoting the good relationship between Vietnam and Sensible.

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye said that 2025 is very important for Senegalese in implementing the Senegalese Vision 2050 strategy, accordingly, he hoped that Vietnamese enterprises would actively participate in the economic development of Senegalese, especially in the field of digital transformation.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his pleasure to represent the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam in visiting Senegalese and thanked the President and senior leaders of Senegalese for their sincere and respectful reception for the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam; Politburo member, President Luong Cuong and Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

Appreciating Senegalese strategic position in Africa, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam wishes to promote multifaceted cooperation with Senegalese, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, agriculture, telecommunications, science - technology... and informed about some prestigious Vietnamese corporations wishing to explore investment and business cooperation opportunities in Senegalese in these fields.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the two governments continue to improve the legal framework to support cooperation activities, and in the immediate future, it is necessary to speed up the negotiation process of foundational agreements such as the Investment Protection Agreement and the double tax avoidance Agreement.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also informed about the results of talks with National Assembly Chairman of Senegal Malick Ndiaye and the meeting with Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, agreeing on a number of major orientations to expand cooperation between the two States, the Government and the two National Assemblies.

Regarding the proposal to open a Vietnamese diplomatic representative office in Senegal, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that he would forward information to the Vietnamese Government for specific research, suggesting that in the immediate future, the two sides could send honorary consulates to each country to serve as a bridge to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, and expressed the desire for the localities of the two countries to strengthen connectivity and exchange activities to strengthen the sincere and friendly relations between the two countries and peoples.
