The Government issued Decree No. 32/2025/ND-CP stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
According to the Decree, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences has 26 units including:

5, Institute of State and Law;
6, Institute of philosophy;
7, Institute for the study of People, Family and Gender;
8, Institute for Cultural Studies;
9, Institute of Ethnology and Religious Studies;
10, Institute of History;
11, Institute of Literature;
12, Institute of Linguistics;
13, Institute of Sociology and Psychology;
14, Asia - Pacific Research Institute;
15, South Asia, West Asia and Africa Research Institute;
16, Institute for European and American Studies;
17, Vietnam and the World Economic Institute;
18, Institute of Geography, Humanities and Sustainable Development;
19, Institute of Social Sciences of the Central and Central Highlands;
20, Southern Institute of Social Sciences;
21, Institute of Archaeology;
22, Han - Nom Research Institute;
23, Institute of Social Science Information;
24, Vietnam Museum of Ethnology;
25, Academy of Social Sciences;
26, Publishing House and Journal of Social Sciences.
The President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences stipulates the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of affiliated and affiliated units.
Thus, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences has reduced 12 units after streamlining the apparatus.
In which: the Planning and Finance Department will be merged with the Science Management Department into the Finance and Science Management Department;
The Institute of Human Resources Research merges with the Institute of Family and Gender Studies into the Institute of Human Resources, Family and Gender Studies;
The Institute of Ethnology merges with the Institute of Religious Studies to form the Institute of Ethnology and Religious Studies;
The Institute of Sociology merges with the Institute of Psychology to form the Institute of Sociology and Psychology;
The Institute of Geography for Humanity merges with the Institute for Sustainable Development Research of the Region to form the Institute of Geography for Humanity and Sustainable Development;
The Central Institute of Social Sciences merges with the Central Highlands Institute of Social Sciences into the Central and Central Highlands Institute of Social Sciences;
The Institute for European Studies merges with the Institute for American Studies into the Institute for European and American Studies;
The China Research Institute merges with the Northeast Asia Research Institute, the Southeast Asia Research Institute into the Asia-Pacific Research Institute;
The Center for Information Technology Application merges with the Academy of Social Sciences into the Institute of Social Science Information;
Vietnam Social Science Magazine merged with the Social Science Publishing House to become the Publishing House and Social Science Magazine.
The Central Institute of Social Sciences merges with the Central Highlands Institute of Social Sciences into the Central and Central Highlands Institute of Social Sciences;
The Vietnam Economic Institute merged with the World Economic and Political Institute to form the Vietnam Economic and World Institute.
The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences has a President and no more than 4 Vice Presidents.
The President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences is appointed and dismissed by the Prime Minister.
The Decree clearly states that public science and technology organizations and public service units subject to reorganization will continue to operate until the Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences issues regulations on the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the new unit after reorganization and reorganization according to regulations, with a deadline of no later than March 31, 2025.
This Decree takes effect from March 1, 2025.
