According to the Government Department of Information and Communications, on September 12, in New Delhi, India, on the occasion of attending the 18th BRICS Summit and conducting bilateral activities in India, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and leaders of several large Indian corporations.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always actively and responsibly participates in the WTO agenda, supporting the WTO to continue to promote its coordinating role in promoting global trade in a comprehensive, balanced direction, for peace, cooperation and development and effectively responding to global challenges.
The Prime Minister also requested the WTO to continue projects and initiatives to support Vietnam in improving capacity, providing in-depth training on trade policies, legal advice on resolving international disputes, and facilitating trade to effectively utilize international agreements and commitments and improve competitiveness.
WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said that Vietnam is on the right track when continuing to diversify markets, products and supply chains; and at the same time shifting to higher levels of the value chain, especially high-value products related to artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and microprocessors.
On the same day, the Prime Minister received Mr. Sanjay Dhawan - Vice President and senior leaders of the group. ACME is an Indian group operating in the field of clean energy and sustainable development, which has implemented renewable energy projects with a total capacity of over 8 GW in India.
The Prime Minister said that Vietnam is implementing national strategies and plans on green transformation, in which renewable energy, new energy, green hydrogen, energy storage technology and emission reduction solutions are identified as priority areas. With its experience and capacity, ACME still has much room to expand cooperation in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister requested ACME to study expanding cooperation and investment in Vietnam, implementing large-scale projects, creating added value and connecting with regional markets.
The Prime Minister wishes ACME to become one of the leading Indian enterprises to implement typical cooperation projects, apply new technologies, and make practical contributions to trade and investment relations between Vietnam and India.
Also on September 12, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received GMR Group Chairman Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao and a number of senior leaders of the Group.
Mr. Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao said that in May 2026, GMR signed a memorandum of cooperation with a number of Vietnamese businesses to study cooperation possibilities in airport development and operation, consulting services, airport technology and some related fields; expressed his desire to continue to expand cooperation and contribute to the development of aviation infrastructure in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated GMR's experience in developing, operating and exploiting aviation infrastructure; said that Vietnam identifies aviation infrastructure development as one of the priorities to strengthen international connectivity, promote trade, tourism and attract investment. Vietnam orients to develop a system of 36 airports by 2030 and continue to expand in the period up to 2050.
The Prime Minister welcomed GMR to strengthen connections and explore cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese partners; requested the Group to study the possibility of participating in suitable projects in the fields of airport development and operation, airport urban areas, commercial exploitation, aviation service ecosystems, digital transformation and airport technology; and at the same time share experiences, technology transfer and contribute to human resource training for Vietnam.
