On the afternoon of March 6, General Secretary To Lam, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Kyrgyzstan Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev. Earlier, on the same morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a welcoming ceremony and held talks with the Kyrgyz Prime Minister.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that at the talks on the morning of March 6, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always attach importance to the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan that has been nurtured by the leaders and people of the two countries over many generations.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Adylbekymaliev affirmed the importance of maintaining contact at all levels, especially at high levels, through all channels, as well as between ministries, branches and localities. The two sides agreed to continue promoting the tradition of close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for Kyrgyzstan to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN, hoping that Kyrgyzstan will promote its role and connect Vietnam with the Central Asian region; and suggested that Kyrgyzstan support the stance of Vietnam and ASEAN on the East Sea issue.
The two leaders acknowledged the improvements in economic - trade cooperation and bilateral trade exchanges in gradual growth, but not sustainable and not meeting the potential of each side; emphasized that the two countries need to further exploit the space brought by the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the ASEAN-EU.
To improve the effectiveness of cooperation, the two sides agreed to support the establishment of coordination mechanisms between agencies in charge of economy - trade, investment..., as well as the possibility of soon establishing an intergovernmental Committee and welcomed businesses of the two countries to establish direct relations with each other, participate in promotional activities and specialized fairs held in each country.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Adylbekymaliev also agreed to assign ministries and branches of the two countries to soon promote negotiations to sign the following Agreements: Avoiding double taxation, encouraging and protecting investment, economic cooperation...; exchanging product categories of each country with potential and export strengths such as: Wood and wood products, electronic products, textiles, seafood, fruits, cashews, tea, etc.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the Kyrgyz Prime Minister assign ministries and branches to study the possibility of cooperation in the field of production and export of Halal products to the Kyrgyz market in particular and the Central Asian market in general.
The two sides agreed to expand cooperation to potential areas such as agriculture, defense - security, education - training, culture - tourism, locality, transportation connectivity, especially aviation and railways to open up new cooperation space, facilitate the enhancement of mutual understanding between the people of the two countries, as well as promote comprehensive relations.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his gratitude to key leaders and the Kyrgyz government for their attention to the Vietnamese community currently living, working and studying in Kyrgyzstan in recent times; and suggested that the Kyrgyzstan government continue to create favorable conditions to ensure the lives of the Vietnamese community in the area.
After the talks, the two leaders signed a Joint Statement on the results of the official visit to Vietnam by the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Adylbekymaliev and witnessed the signing ceremony and exchange of bilateral cooperation documents including: (1) Agreement on cooperation in the field of education; (2) Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of law between the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam and the Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan; (3) Memorandum of Understanding between the Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Civil Aviation Authority of Kyrgyzstan.
