Welcoming Mr. Sergey Shoigu and the high-ranking delegation of the Russian Security Council to visit Vietnam, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that this visit is of great significance, contributing to further strengthening cooperation between specialized agencies of the two countries in the fields of security, defense and many other areas of strategic cooperation.
The General Secretary emphasized that Vietnam always appreciates the traditional friendship and closeness nurtured by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries; highly appreciated and thanked the support of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation for Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the current cause of national construction and defense.
General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the results of the exchanges between the Russian Federation Security Council Delegation and Vietnamese authorities; and acknowledged the practical cooperation contents that the two sides have agreed on, especially in the fields of transnational crime prevention and control; anti-terrorism; ensuring cyber security; non-traditional security; exchanging strategic information and training and fostering cadres.
The General Secretary emphasized that in the context of the rapid and complicated world situation, Vietnam and the Russian Federation need to strengthen coordination, consultation and experience sharing to support and complement each other for the security and prosperity of each country; Vietnam is ready to promote and act as a bridge and gateway for the Russian Federation to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with ASEAN and ASEAN member countries.
Thanking General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to receive the delegation, Secretary of the Russian Federal Security Council Sergey Shoigu expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam, a country with many special feelings; and respectfully conveyed the health wishes of senior leaders of the Russian Federation to the General Secretary.
Mr. Sergey Shoigu affirmed that Russia considers Vietnam a leading reliable and important partner in the Asia-Pacific region; highly appreciated the role, position and foreign policy of Vietnam in a peaceful, independent and autonomous manner in the international arena.
Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergey Shoigu emphasized that cooperation between the two countries is always based on trust and mutual respect, in accordance with international law and the interests of both sides; said that bilateral cooperation in the fields of security - national defense, training of cadres, sharing experiences in responding to non-traditional security challenges, crime prevention... has achieved many positive results.
Mr. Sergey Shoigu expressed his desire to promote comprehensive cooperation between the Security Council of Russia and Vietnamese authorities; expand strategic dialogue between specialized agencies; affirm readiness to support, share experiences and expand cooperation programs and mechanisms, as well as deploy new cooperation initiatives to suit the requirements and conditions of each side.
