On the afternoon of August 28, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Committee Santiphab Phomvihane and the delegation on the occasion of visiting and attending the Mid-term Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee on Bilateral Cooperation between Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam 2026 in Vietnam.

At the reception, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Santiphab Phomvihane and the delegation to visit, work and attend the Mid-term Meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Committee in 2026; highly appreciated the important visit, aimed at exchanging and evaluating the implementation of the Agreement on the Cooperation Plan between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Laos in 2026 and preparing for the 49th Meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee.

The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure at the positive cooperation results between Vietnam and Laos in the past time, and affirmed that Vietnam always values and prioritizes the cultivation, consolidation and development of the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos; is ready to coordinate with Laos to remove difficulties and obstacles, create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to expand investment and business, and encourage large-scale projects.

Regarding cooperation between the two Ministries of Finance, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the fact that after the two countries carried out the work of streamlining the apparatus, both new Ministries of Finance of the two countries actively implemented the Cooperation Agreement for the period 2026 - 2030, creating a basis for improving the quality and efficiency of financial cooperation in the new period. The Prime Minister requested the two Ministries to continue to closely coordinate, focus on exchanging and sharing experiences; coordinate to manage and effectively use development resources. At the same time, continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest and do business in Laos; promote projects; strengthen coordination at ASEAN and regional financial mechanisms.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung welcomed the results of the Mid-term Meeting of the Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Committees in 2026; highly appreciated the role of the two Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Committees in coordinating to promote the implementation of Cooperation Agreements and projects; requested the two Committees to continue to promote the coordinating role, proactively review and urge the effective implementation of high-level agreements, the results of the 48th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee and the Cooperation Plan between the two Governments.

Thanking Prime Minister Le Minh Hung for taking the time to receive him, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Committee Santiphab Phomvihane expressed his pleasure to visit and work in Vietnam; and conveyed his cordial greetings and wishes for good health from Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone to Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and senior leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam.

The Lao Deputy Prime Minister informed the Prime Minister of some key points about the situation in Laos, respectfully thanked Vietnam for always accompanying, sharing experiences and supporting Laos in development; wishing to continue to receive coordination and support from Vietnam. At the same time, he requested the two sides to further promote the participation of Vietnamese businesses in Laos' priority areas.
