On April 8, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense organized a conference of the Steering Committee for the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2026 (abbreviated as the Exhibition). Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the conference.
According to the report of the General Department of National Defense Industry - the Standing Agency of the Organizing Committee, implementing the direction of the Head of the Ministry of National Defense, the preparation for the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2026 has been deployed synchronously and on schedule, achieving many important results.
Regarding the legal basis and organizational consolidation, on March 14, 2026, the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission approved the Exhibition Project. On April 1, 2026, the Prime Minister agreed in principle to allow the Ministry of National Defense to organize the Exhibition.
In addition, the survey, site planning, and design of functional sub-areas are implemented closely, scientifically, and in accordance with infrastructure conditions. The display area in the building is expanded, using all 3 aircraft buildings and installing an additional building area, raising the total area to about 24,000m2; of which the effective area is about 10,000m2, ensuring reasonable arrangement for agencies and units inside and outside the Army as well as international partners.
The Organizing Committee has also completed the draft master plan, clearly defining time milestones, and assigning specific tasks to each sub-committee. At the same time, actively implementing promotion activities, inviting domestic and foreign businesses to participate.
As of April 6, 2026, 38 businesses and organizations from 14 countries and territories have registered to participate in the exhibition; 41 other partners are continuing to exchange, expected to increase the total registered area to thousands of m2 with a scale of hundreds of booths.
In particular, socialization and resource mobilization are being promoted. The Organizing Committee plans to organize a conference to promote exhibition sponsorship in May 2026 in Hanoi, with the participation of a large number of businesses inside and outside the Army.
Regarding display work, the General Department of National Defense Industry has coordinated with functional agencies to build a list of weapons and technical equipment, in which, focusing on new and modern products, clearly reflecting the potential and development level of Vietnam's defense industry.
Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang acknowledged and praised the proactive and responsible spirit of the General Department of National Defense Industry and relevant agencies and units in deploying preparation work.
Emphasizing the meaning and importance of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2026, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang requested the General Department of National Defense Industry to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently complete the general plan, as a basis for synchronously deploying tasks.
On that basis, agencies, units, and sub-committees continue to thoroughly grasp the assigned tasks; focus on building, completing and organizing the implementation of detailed plans in accordance with their functions and tasks; and at the same time promote the work of inviting, promoting, and attracting reputable and potential partners to participate in the Exhibition.
According to initial plans, the 3rd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition, 2026 will be held at Gia Lam airport (Long Bien ward, Hanoi City) for 4 days from December 10 to 13, 2026.
