On April 1, General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), Deputy Minister of National Defense - chaired the meeting of the General Staff in March 2025.
Concluding the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong praised the outstanding results in performing the tasks of agencies and units in the entire army in recent times.
Regarding the tasks for April and the following period, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested the entire army to continue to strictly maintain combat readiness, monitor and grasp the situation, especially in key areas.
Strengthen patrols to control and prevent illegal entry and exit on border routes, seas and islands; focus on propaganda to patrol, chase away, and prevent foreign vessels from violating and encroaching on Vietnam's sea areas; ensure adequate and timely terrain documents and geographical information for all units.
At the same time, strengthen information control in cyberspace, ensure timely communication, and basically command and direct the entire army.
Regarding the task of organizing forces, General Nguyen Tan Cuong noted the need to focus on completing the Project to continue to reorganize local military agencies; develop a Plan of the Ministry of National Defense for the period 2026 - 2030 to implement Resolution No. 05-NQ/TW dated January 17, 2022 of the Politburo on the organization of the Vietnam People's Army for the period 2021 - 2030 and the following years; submit to the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission on policies for forces participating in the Project of parade and parade and a plan to purchase technical weapons and equipment of the Ministry of National Defense Equipment Council.
Along with organizing training, competitions, and sports festivals for the subjects to ensure strict compliance with regulations, units must complete regulations on safety assurance, regulations on the number of fake construction sites, the amount of explosives used in each fake construction site applying to each tactical drill; strictly maintain the rescue and relief duty regime at all levels, proactively grasp the situation, advise and propose timely and effective handling of situations, especially the risk of forest fires in the locality.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested organizing units to grasp the situation of electronic warfare in regions; closely monitor the national information system and military and defense information; strengthen information security and network security; firmly maintain the cryptography technical system, transfer command and command contents to ensure confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness in all situations.
Focus on inspecting, registering, appraising the quality, and accepting technical equipment and weapons of agencies and units in the entire army in accordance with the regulations of the State and the Ministry of National Defense.
