On December 10, Petrovietnam Deputy General Director Le Manh Cuong had a meeting and worked with Ms. Aline des Cloizeaux - Director of the nuclear division, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
At the meeting, the two sides discussed and agreed on many important contents related to capacity building for Petrovietnam in its role as the investor of the nuclear power project.
The exchanges focused on infrastructure and models for organizing and managing the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant Project in each stage, from investment preparation, construction to operation; at the same time, ensuring safety and efficiency requirements.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy General Director of Petrovietnam Le Manh Cuong introduced to the IAEA working group the group's production and business results in the past time.
Mr. Cuong also shared strategic orientations in the coming period, including research and preparation to participate in investing in new energy projects, renewable energy and sustainability, including the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Project (the Petrovietnam project assigned by the Government as the investor).
Petrovietnam and IAEA discussed and clarified the requirements, international standards and organizational models that nuclear power plant investors need to meet, including organizational structure, technical capacity, safety assurance, project management and financial capacity.
At the same time, share international experience from newly developed countries such as the UAE, Belarus... to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each model when applied in Vietnam.

Petrovietnam Deputy General Director Le Manh Cuong expressed his hope that in the coming time, IAEA will continue to accompany and support Petrovietnam through professional advice, sharing experiences and making recommendations in the process of preparing and implementing the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant Project, thereby helping the Group build a suitable roadmap.
Ms. Aline des Cloizeaux - Director of the IAEA nuclear division - highly appreciated Petrovietnam's proactiveness, seriousness and methodical approach in researching and preparing to participate in the field of nuclear power.
Based on the contents discussed, Ms. Aline des Cloizeaux said that IAEA is ready to coordinate and support Petrovietnam through international consulting, training and experience sharing programs, in order to gradually improve the capacity of nuclear power project investors, ensuring compliance with IAEA safety standards, in line with Vietnam's nuclear power development orientation and roadmap.
