On December 15, the Vietnam National Group of Industry and Energy (Petrovietnam) and SCG Group (Thailand) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand the strategic cooperation framework, towards sustainable development of the industrial - energy value chain in the context of the global industry facing many new challenges.
Speaking at the ceremony, Petrovietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son emphasized that the signing of this MOU is an important milestone, continuing the long-term cooperation journey, built on the foundation of trust and effective companionship between Petrovietnam and SCG over the years.
The Group's member units such as PV GAS, BSR and PTSC are still closely coordinating with SCG in many key areas such as raw material supply, logistics, technical support and operations. These practical cooperation experiences are considered a solid foundation for both sides to confidently implement new cooperation contents.
General Director Le Ngoc Son affirmed that the Group's leaders are ready to accompany and create conditions for SCG to effectively implement the agreed cooperation contents.
At the same time, it is believed that the signing of these MOUs not only opens up specific cooperation directions between relevant units, but also demonstrates the long-term vision of both sides in building a substantive, effective and mutually beneficial strategic partnership, thereby actively contributing to the development of the energy - industry in the region.

According to the signed MOU, Petrovietnam and SCG agreed to promote comprehensive cooperation, from the fields of petrochemical, chemical, LNG to digital transformation, research and development (R&D), advanced materials and initiatives to reduce emissions, adapting to the energy transition trend. These are all strategic areas, in line with the long-term development orientation of both groups.
Speaking at the event, SCG General Director Thammasak Sethaudom stated that the signing of the MO Us between Petrovietnam and SCG took place in the context of the global petrochemical industry facing a long downturn, affected by weak demand and strong capacity increases in many regions of the world.
In that context, strategic cooperation between Petrovietnam and SCG is not only an opportunity, but an inevitable requirement to improve competitiveness, optimize operational efficiency and strengthen the resilience of the supply chain.
Also at the event, Vietnam Gas Corporation - JSC (PV GAS) and Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) signed a MOU with Long Son Petrochemical Company Limited (LSP).
This cooperation is also expected to create an important foundation for LSP, PV GAS and BSR to strengthen linkages, promote the strengths of each unit, contribute to completing the oil and gas - petrochemical value chain, improving production and business efficiency and competitiveness of the Vietnamese energy industry in the coming period.
