On May 22, 2026, on the way from his hometown to Hanoi to work, Mr. Duong unfortunately had an accident in the area of Luong Son commune (Phu Tho province) when two motorbikes collided with each other.
After the traffic accident, he was taken to Hoa Binh General Hospital for emergency treatment in critical condition.

Doctors determined that Duong suffered severe traumatic brain injury, cerebral hemorrhage and fell into a deep coma, and had to be treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). After many days of coma, in early June, Duong showed signs of regaining consciousness. But according to his older sister Bui Thi Anh, he is currently only able to open his eyes, has no consciousness and still has to continue treatment in the ICU room.
Her skull is being kept at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Doctors said they will continue to monitor. When she is more awake, they will consider letting her go home for about 2 weeks of monitoring, then re-examine to assess the possibility of a skull transplant," Ms. Anh shared.

The sudden accident not only pushed Duong into a battle for life but also put the whole family in a state of exhaustion.
According to Ms. Anh, her family is classified as a poor household. Her mother is over 60 years old, in poor health, and had a stroke, so she is almost unable to work, her ears are also deaf, so she cannot hear anything. The economic burden weighs on the shoulders of her elderly father, who has to work as a hired laborer every day, carrying cement to support the whole family.
His income used to be only about 3 - 4 million VND/month, even lower at times. Life was already difficult, now Duong's accident has almost brought everything into a deadlock.
Since my younger brother was hospitalized, my father has had to quit his job to be on duty to take care of him, so the family no longer has any income. Meanwhile, he has to be treated for a long time, the cost of medicine, diapers, food and care incurred is very large. We really no longer have the ability to manage," Ms. Anh choked up.

Relatives on both sides of the family are in difficult circumstances, so they cannot provide much support. Ms. Anh herself has tried to borrow money everywhere to have money to treat her younger brother. However, she has also married and is raising 3 young children, so she cannot provide much support.
Wherever I could borrow money, I borrowed it all, now I really don't know what to do anymore. I just hope philanthropists and benefactors can sympathize and help my younger brother have more opportunities to continue treatment. He is still too young, the future is still ahead. My family just hopes he can recover and continue to live," Ms. Anh choked up.
Sharing about the circumstances of Mr. Duong's family, Mr. Ha Van Chien, Head of Nam Son 2 hamlet, said that his family has been in particularly difficult circumstances in the locality for many years: "Duong's mother is in poor health and no longer able to work. Her father works as a porter for a construction material agency near the house with an income of about 200,000 VND/day, but the job is precarious due to poor health. Many places even dare not hire him because he is too weak, only one familiar agent creates conditions for him to work.
The family was already very poor, now Duong had an accident and it is even more difficult, the treatment cost is too high compared to their ability. I really hope philanthropists will join hands to help so that he has more opportunities to be treated and recover his health soon.
