Standards for becoming a defense inspector according to new regulations

Clause 2, Article 13 of Decree 284/2025/ND-CP regulating the organization and operation of the national defense inspectorate (effective from November 6, 2025), stipulates the national defense inspectorate, including:

2. National defense inspectors must meet the standards according to Article 12 of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army and Clause 2, Article 8 of the Law on Inspection.

Article 12 of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army stipulates the standards for officers as follows:

1. General standards:

a) Have strong political will, be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland and the people, to the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; have a high revolutionary vigilance spirit, be ready to fight, sacrifice, and successfully complete all assigned tasks;

b) Have revolutionary ethical qualities; need to be impartial, selfless and selfless; be exemplary in complying with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; promote democracy, strictly maintain military discipline; respect and solidarity with the people and comrades; be trusted by the masses;

c) Have political qualifications, military science and the ability to creatively apply Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, the Party and State's guidelines, viewpoints and policies on the task of building a national defense, building the people's army; have knowledge of culture, economy, society, law and other fields; have practical working capacity to meet the requirements of assigned tasks; graduate from the training program according to regulations for each position;

d) Have a clear background, age and health appropriate to the position and rank that the officer holds.

2. Specific standards for each position and title of officers are prescribed by competent authorities.

Clause 2, Article 8 of the 2025 Law on Inspection (effective from July 1, 2025) stipulates the inspectors as follows:

2. General standards for being classified or appointed as inspectors include:

a) As a civil servant, officer of the People's Army, officer of the People's Public Security, or a person working in secret service, except in cases where the Government otherwise stipulates for the Inspectorate of the Inspectorate established under international treaties;

b) Loyal to the Fatherland and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; have good moral qualities; have a sense of responsibility, integrity, honesty, fairness, and objectivity;

c) Have a university degree or higher, have knowledge of state management, appropriate expertise and legal knowledge.

Thus, defense inspectors need to meet the standards according to the above regulations.
