The 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) is a particularly important and national political event. The event was implemented by the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Organizing Committee said that the following key activities will take place in Ho Chi Minh City:
The national celebration program will be held at 6:30 a.m. on April 30, 2025 on Le Duan Street, District 1 and some central streets of Ho Chi Minh City. The parade and march program chaired by the Ministry of National Defense includes: 4 parade blocks of Nghi Truong block; 36 parade blocks; 12 parade blocks. There are plans to be parades of Laos and Cambodia during the celebration.
Ho Chi Minh City will organize an incense offering ceremony and flower offering to commemorate the heroic martyrs at 08:00 on April 29, 2025 at Ho Chi Minh City Martyrs' Cemetery, City Cemetery (Lac Canh), Ben Duoc Memorial Temple, Cu Chi District Martyrs' Cemetery, Ho Chi Minh City Policy Cemetery (Cu Chi District); National Historical Site of Nga Ba Giong (Hoc Mon District). The incense offering and flower offering ceremony to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang on April 29, 2025 at the central and city levels.
On April 19-30, 2025, the city organized many welcome activities: The "Color City" festival was held from April 19 to April 30, 2025. In particular, the night of 19.4 performed 2,000 unmanned flying devices (drones), combined with art fireworks to light the sky of the city, bringing a spectacular experience to the audience. Cinema exhibition "Vang Dai Thang Spring 1975", with 300 photos of valuable documents, screening community films on the night of 27 and 28.4 at Nguyen Hue - Ngo Duc Ke stage. The special art program "The Festival of Unified River" was held and broadcast nationwide in the Unified Hall, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, on the evening of April 30, 2025.
At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the ministries and central branches organized art programs to welcome: The outdoor art program "The country is full of joy" on April 20, 2025 at the Unified Hall, the special concert program theme "Hoa Binh Symphony" on the evening of April 21, 2025 at the City Theater, the national television bridge "Roasting forever" on Ho Chi Minh City on April 27, 2025 at the point of Ho Chi Minh City. The special art program was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City on April 29, 2025, in front of Thong Nhat Hall, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
The city also plans to organize a variety of celebration activities on Saturday evenings of April 19 and 26, 2025 and key days of April 29 and 30, 2025 on Nguyen Hue walking street, Ben Bach Dang - Saigon River area; Districts: 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, Tan Phu, Binh Tan; Districts: Can Gio, Nha Be and Thu Duc City.
