The People's Committee of Hue City has issued Official Letter No. 6730/UBND-CN to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the results of implementing the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh on the case of the national treasure "Ngai Vuong Vuong Tuong Nguyen" being attacked on May 24, 2025.
The report stated that immediately after the incident, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City signed Official Letter No. 6359/UBND-CN directing relevant agencies and units to deploy contents on the case of national treasure "Child of the Nguyen Dynasty".
The Provincial People's Committee has directed the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to urgently inspect, review, and evaluate security work, conservation processes, display of artifacts, antiques, etc., especially national treasures at the Hue Monuments Conservation Center; develop detailed procedures and plans for management, preservation, and display of artifacts and antiques at the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.
Organize reviewing, drawing experience and handling the responsibilities of individuals and organizations involved in the incident of sabotage of national treasures displayed at Thai Hoa Palace on May 24, 2025;
Strengthen the management and protection of security and safety at relic sites and relics, antiques, and national treasures under the management authority of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center; proactively develop a prevention plan, detect early and be ready to prevent and handle acts of aggression and sabotage.
Direct the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to advise the City People's Committee to establish a Council to assess the status of the artifact to propose solutions for preservation and restoration in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is responsible for presiding over and coordinating with the People's Committees of districts, towns and towns to review and evaluate the display, preservation, protection and measures to ensure security and safety for antiques and artifacts at museums, cultural and historical monuments in the city; Report to the City People's Committee before June 12, 2025 to report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Preside over and coordinate with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to promptly provide complete and accurate information to press agencies while promoting propaganda and education to raise awareness and awareness of cultural heritage protection for people and tourists.
The Provincial People's Committee also directed the City Police to coordinate with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to investigate and verify the violation of Ho Van Phuong Tam to handle it according to the provisions of law.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Hue City Police has issued a notice of decision to prosecute a criminal case, prosecute the accused and issue a temporary detention order for 03 months for the accused Ho Van Phuong Tam, born in: 1983, registered permanent residence at: Group 7, Area 4, Huong Long Ward, Phu Xuan District, Hue City for the crime of intentionally damaging property, according to Point C, Clause 2, Article 178 of the Penal Code.
Regarding the inspection and evaluation of the technical status of the national treasure "The Nguyen King of the Nguyen Dynasty", proposing solutions to preserve and recover in accordance with the law, on the basis of the unified opinions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Official Letter No. 2389/BVHTTDL-DSVH, Chairman of Hue City People's Committee signed Decision No. 1566/QD-UBND on the establishment of the Council for the Council of the Statute and Preparation of the National Assembly Nguyen.
The Council will hold a meeting on June 1, 2025, on the basis of the results of the meeting, the People's Committee of Hue City will continue to report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consider and decide the plan of preserving and restoring the national treasure "The throne of the Nguyen Dynasty" in accordance with the regulations.
In the coming time, the City People's Committee will hold a meeting of the Council to evaluate the status and propose a plan to preserve and restore the National Treasure of the Nguyen Dynasty; Summarizing the opinion of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consider and decide the plan to restore the National Treasure of the Nguyen Dynasty.
For national treasures currently being kept at the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, the City People's Committee has directed relevant agencies to complete and deploy a detailed protection plan for each treasury in June 2025; focusing on ensuring full measures to prevent and combat theft, fire, explosion, natural disasters and other damage risks to ensure absolute safety for national treasures.
The City People's Committee will prioritize investment in renovation and upgrading works, technical infrastructure, and investment in specialized equipment for displaying, preserving artifacts and the national treasure display area at the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.
At the same time, promote the application of new technology, artificial intelligence (AI) in monitoring management such as: early warning sensor system, setting up virtual fence, security monitoring system... to ensure that national objects are placed in special storage mode according to the instructions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
At the same time, direct the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to complete the overall plan for security and safety protection at the unit; exhibition and sightseeing plan; personnel organization plan, facilities to both meet the sightseeing needs of people and tourists and ensure safety and security for artifacts and antiques.
