The film has become one of the Vietnamese cinematic works with the fastest box office growth rate ever.
According to Box Office Vietnam, on September 1 alone, "Red Rain" brought in more than 50 billion VND, with about 500,000 tickets sold over 5,500 screenings. Previously, the film continuously set records: Earning 100 billion VND after three days of release, surpassing the 200 billion VND mark in less than a week and quickly reaching the 300 billion VND mark on August 31.
With this growth momentum, "Red Rain" is only a short way to "Mai" - the film with the highest revenue of all time in Vietnam - more than 150 billion VND and is expected to soon surpass Tran Thanh's record.
"Red Rain" is produced by the People's Army Cinema, the script was written by writer Chu Lai, inspired by the 81 days and nights of protecting the ancient citadel of Quang Tri in 1972, This was a fierce battle, contributing significantly to the success of the Paris Agreement in 1973 and the great victory of Spring 1975.
To recreate the battlefield setting, the crew built a film set of up to 50 hectares on the bank of the Thach Han River. The production process encountered many challenges, including the forced rebuilding of part of the film set destroyed by the storm.
Not only directly depicting the fierceness of war, the work also highlights the humanistic spirit: the soldiers are both resilient soldiers and children, fathers with family nostalgia. The film brings together a young cast such as Do Nhat Hoang, Nguyen Phuong Nam, Nguyen Dinh Khang, Ha Anh, Steven Nguyen... along with veteran names of People's Artist Tran Luc, Hua Vi Van, Than Thuy Ha.
