The work exploits folk legends associated with Cat Ba land, such as the relics of Cat Ba island, Cat Ong island, Kim Giao forest... The content revolves around the story of a loyal love story between Kim and Giao under the reign of Hung King the 6th, in the context of the people of Van Lang united against the invaders of An.

Through an emotional series of stories, the play praises the beauty of the soul and indomitable spirit of the people of the South, honors loyal, brave Vietnamese women and praises the brave men, ready to sacrifice at the front line. At the same time, the play also contributes to explaining the origin of the sacred place names of the Cat Ba - Hai Phong region in artistic language. Although set in history, the message of love, loyalty and national spirit still carries the breath of the times, close to today's audience.
