Voters recommend that the Ministry of Transport inspect, survey and have a plan to expand this road into a dual carriageway with a median strip to ensure traffic safety for people participating in traffic.
Currently, this road is too narrow, traffic volume is increasing, traffic accidents occur continuously.
Responding to this issue, the Ministry of Transport said that implementing the Prime Minister's direction in Notice No. 55/TB-VPCP dated February 21, 2012 and the approved planning, in the period from 2013 to 2015, the Ministry of Transport has invested and completed the expansion of National Highway 1 from Thanh Hoa to Can Tho with a scale of 4 lanes with a median strip.
For sections that already have 4 lanes or bypasses, investment will be considered in the next phase.
Therefore, National Highway 1 through Bui Thi Xuan ward, Quy Nhon city, from Phu Tai intersection to Binh Phu bridge, is kept intact, only the road surface is reinforced because it runs parallel to National Highway 1D, which has been invested in with a scale of 2 - 4 lanes.
According to the road network planning for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2050, National Highway 1 has a level III scale and 4 lanes.
Currently, the Ministry of Transport is focusing resources to invest in completing and putting into operation the North-South expressway, eastern section through Binh Dinh province, with a scale of 4 lanes by the end of 2025. When the project is completed and put into operation, it will reduce the load on vehicles traveling on National Highway 1.
The Ministry of Transport has noted the voters' recommendations; after putting the Eastern North-South Expressway into operation, the Ministry of Transport will coordinate with the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province to re-evaluate the demand and consider expanding National Highway 1 through Bui Thi Xuan ward, Quy Nhon city if necessary.
