Nutritional care for women and children
Buon Don Commune Health Station has just organized a nutrition practice program for mothers with children under 2 years old. Many ethnic minority women, poor and near-poor households in the area attended. Many cases are in extremely difficult circumstances.
At the program, the station's health workers and staff instructed people to increase breastfeeding and how to supplement supplement children through direct communication forms.
The content includes group discussions, practical instructions on food processing for children for pregnant women, mothers and caregivers of children under 2 years old.

The funding source is partly taken from the National Target Program on improving nutrition for people, developing the socio-economy and sustainable poverty reduction in ethnic minority areas.
From early morning, Ms. H'Na Di Ennuol and the villagers were present at the commune health station. Ms. H'Na Di is an ethnic minority in the locality, with quite difficult circumstances. Her biggest wish is to receive nutritional advice and choose supplements so that her child can develop well physically.

Ms. H'Na Di shared: "I feel that this is a very meaningful activity. Mothers raising young children are supplemented with knowledge and advice on how to take care of their children. Many women in ethnic minority areas have also been raised in awareness, known how to prevent malnutrition and given their children a full vaccination".

Improving population quality
Buon Don commune is a locality with a large area, with many ethnic minority villages and hamlets. The whole commune currently has about 570 poor households and more than 200 near-poor households.
Compared to 5 years ago, the locality has reduced nearly 300 poor households. However, the rate of poor and near-poor households in ethnic minority areas is still high, continuing to be a major challenge for sustainable poverty reduction.
According to the Buon Don Commune Health Station, nutritional work for mothers with children under 2 years old is important in disease prevention. Children who are properly nurtured will have a healthy immune system and less illness, thereby reducing the burden of treatment for the family and society.

Mr. Y Nham Nie - Head of Buon Don Commune Health Station - shared: "In the first years of life, especially from pregnancy to when the baby is 24 months old, nutrition plays an extremely important role in the comprehensive development of the baby. This is considered the "golden period" that determines the height, intelligence, immune system and long-term health of children in the future.
Therefore, nutritional work for mothers with children under 2 years old is not only a medical task but also a social responsibility. Thereby, contributing to improving population quality and developing local human resources in the future".
