Trillions of VND invested in strategic traffic routes
At the beginning of 2026, Ca Mau province continuously approved investment policies for many important transport projects in the urban center area. The projects focus on connecting major traffic axes, especially inter-connected routes with National Highway 1 and the ring road system.
Notably, the Ring Road 1 project of Ca Mau with a total investment of more than 2,360 billion VND, using provincial budget capital in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026–2030.

According to the approved plan, the road has a length of about 5.94km, of which more than 5.5km is newly built, and about 0.43km of existing road is upgraded. The starting point of the route is at the Tran Hung Dao - 3 Thang 2 intersection, the ending point connects to the Nguyen Tat Thanh - Nguyen Dinh Chieu axis, forming an important traffic axis surrounding the urban center area.
When completed, the road is expected to contribute to reducing traffic pressure for inner-city routes, and at the same time form a ring road to help regulate vehicles entering and leaving the city center area.
In parallel, Ca Mau province also approved the project of connecting National Highway 1 bypass with Ring Road 2 in Tan Thanh ward, with a total investment of more than 414 billion VND.
The road is about 2.83km long, starting from the intersection with Mau Than - Ton Duc Thang extended road and ending at Hoang Van Thu road. The road is designed with a road surface of about 23m wide, along with a synchronous system of sidewalks, medians, drainage, lighting and green trees.
This project is considered an important connecting route between the National Highway 1 bypass and the ring road system, contributing to completing the urban traffic network, while increasing the traffic capacity of goods and vehicles through the area.
According to the plan, the above transportation projects are expected to be implemented in the period 2026 – 2029.
Expanding urban development space
For many years, the central area of Ca Mau City (old) has been assessed as developing rapidly, but the transport infrastructure system still has some limitations. Many inner-city roads regularly bear great pressure on traffic volume, especially on the axes connecting to National Highway 1.
Therefore, investing in new ring roads and connecting axes not only helps to effectively divert traffic, but also creates conditions to expand urban development space to neighboring areas.

When completed, these roads will become a key traffic axis, creating conditions for the formation of new residential areas, urban areas and commercial - service projects along major traffic routes.
Notably, the Tan Thanh ward area and the Northeast gateway urban areas are being oriented for strong development in the coming time. The investment in a road connecting to the National Highway 1 bypass and the ring road system is considered an important step to create development momentum for this area.
With a total investment capital of up to trillions of VND, the transportation projects being implemented are expected to create a strong shift for Ca Mau urban infrastructure in the coming years, opening up a new development space for the southernmost urban area of the Fatherland.
