Faced with the situation of people arbitrarily producing rice crop 3 in Tran Van Thoi district, on January 9, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province directed the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district to continue to effectively carry out propaganda work, mobilizing people to strictly comply with regulations, policies and directions of competent authorities on production organization; recommending people to organize production according to the crop calendar, instructions of specialized agencies, to avoid damage; instructing people to use water economically and effectively, absolutely not to force local water pumping in production causing subsidence and landslides.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to review plans and production organization schemes in each field, guide localities to adjust crop calendars in accordance with actual situations, organize production in accordance with weather developments; provide professional and technical support in production activities; strengthen disease prevention and control on crops and livestock; regularly monitor weather developments, promptly advise localities and people to be proactive in production, minimizing damage.
The People's Committees of districts and Ca Mau city shall strengthen the direction, regularly inspect, review, monitor, grasp the locality, proactively review the local crop calendar to consider and adjust it in accordance with the actual situation, organize production in accordance with weather developments, according to the proposals and instructions of professional agencies; carry out well the propaganda work, mobilize people to strictly comply with regulations, policies, and instructions of competent authorities on production organization; advise people to organize production according to the crop calendar, instructions of professional agencies, to avoid damage to production households and surrounding areas (due to pumping water from canals to fields in the dry season, causing water in canals to dry up, leading to landslides, land subsidence, etc.).
According to the report of the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district, 3 households in Khanh Binh Tay Bac commune have planted rice on an area of 6.4 hectares and 2 households in Tran Hoi commune are preparing to plant rice on an area of 9 hectares. The People's Committee of the district has directed specialized agencies, communes and towns to coordinate with the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to continue to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to strictly comply with the policies and instructions of superiors on production and response to drought, water shortage and saltwater intrusion in the dry season.
Currently, rice prices in Ca Mau and Bac Lieu are low, many traders only buy at 5,600 VND/kg, making farmers' profits very low.
