Regarding the landfill No. 8 blocking the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway, speaking with Lao Dong on the afternoon of December 31, Mr. Tran Tien Dat - Deputy Director of the Project Management Board (PMU) of Cai Rang District Land Fund Development, Can Tho City - said that up to now, the relocation of the landfill has basically completed the main parts; only the remaining steps are to clear the garbage to both sides, clean up, straighten the path, etc.
“On December 31, the unit invited the My Thuan Project Management Board (investor) to hand over the land within the main road. For the remaining small tasks, the unit will complete them within about a week,” said Mr. Dat.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - representative of the construction unit of landfill No. 8 - informed that currently at the construction site there are nearly 40 workers and about 20 machines and equipment, including motor vehicles, loading and transporting vehicles and other auxiliary vehicles.
“We have thoroughly grasped the work and progress, urgently worked overtime at night, and mobilized more machinery to soon complete the remaining work in the coming days,” said Mr. Tung.
According to the reporter's records in the past few days, the units have increased machinery, equipment, and workers to focus on the construction of the landfill relocation both day and night. In particular, machinery and equipment operate non-stop, while workers are divided into shifts to work, working continuously from morning until about 10pm every day, urgently speeding up the progress according to the Prime Minister's direction.
Mr. Dat added that during the process of relocating the landfill blocking the highway, the units also encountered difficulties and obstacles. The relocation time was short (45 days), including many rainy days, so construction could not be carried out. The deeper the digging, the more the groundwater rose, and the amount of leachate also affected the construction progress...
