Maximize operation of drainage pumping stations
Faced with heavy rain due to the impact of storm No. 4, communes in Hai Phong City focused on inspecting drainage systems, maximizing the operation of pumping stations, and clearing flows to limit flooding, protect production and people's lives.
In the afternoon of August 23, Ms. Hoang Thi Chau Ha - Vice Chairwoman of Dai Son Commune People's Committee directly inspected drainage work in the Trieu field area of Thuong Hai and Dong Phong villages, Lac Duc pumping station, Do Neo pumping station and the main drainage canal of Do Neo pumping station.
At Do Neo pumping station, 9/9 pumps are operating; Lac Duc pumping station operates 4/4 pumps, focusing on pumping water out. Commune leaders requested pumping stations to maintain operation 24/24 hours, based on rain developments and water levels to organize appropriate operation, maximizing drainage capacity.
The responsible units are required to regularly inspect machinery and equipment, ensuring that the units operate safely and stably; and at the same time inspect canals, drainage culverts and areas at risk of flooding, and promptly handle bottlenecks.

In Tu Ky commune, on the afternoon of August 23, Mr. Vu Xuan Dat - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Commune People's Council and leaders of the Commune People's Committee inspected the drainage work at Cu Loc, Do Don and Dong Trang pumping stations. The pumping stations are operating at full capacity, mobilizing all pumps to quickly lower the water level on the drainage canal system, limiting flooding.
The Civil Defense Command of the commune mobilized forces to continuously inspect the dike crossing culvert system, drainage lines and areas at risk of flooding. Garbage, duckweed and obstacles at the dike crossing culverts are collected and the flow is cleared.

Review flooded points, clear flow
Also on August 23, Mr. Tran Van Son - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Nguyen Giap commune, together with leaders of the Commune People's Committee and relevant forces directly inspected some vegetable production areas in An Quy, An Phu and An Tho villages.
Through inspection, some localized points have experienced flooding in the area of Khoi Doi 2 road, An Quy village; Dong Ma area, Trieu Ngoai area, An Phu village. Some production areas are located interspersed with residential areas, while the drainage ditch and canal system has not been regularly cleared.

Garbage, duckweed and obstacles at some canals limit the flow; some irrigation works and internal field canals that have not been dredged for a long time also increase the risk of localized flooding.
Leaders of Nguyen Giap commune requested villages and relevant forces to urgently review the entire drainage system, especially production areas, low-lying areas and residential areas at risk of flooding; collect waste, water hyacinth, obstacles, dredge ditches, clear flows, and ensure the fastest drainage when heavy rain occurs.
In An Phu commune, as of 4 pm on August 23, all 733 fish cages of 34 households on the right dike section of the Kinh Thay River passing through the area were safe from the impact of storm No. 4. Among them, 687 cages are currently stocking fish and 46 cages are not stocking.

The locality continues to monitor the cage fish farming area, proactively taking measures to ensure safety and limit possible damage. For agricultural production, about 7 hectares of vegetables out of nearly 140 hectares in the area were locally flooded. Up to the above time, the locality has not recorded damage to vegetable areas.
An Phu commune has directed Ngoc Tri and Cong Hot pumping stations to deploy internal field drainage pumping, proactively draining water for production areas affected by rain.
Before the forecast that there will continue to be heavy rain on August 24, localities maintain strict duty regimes, regularly update the situation, inspect dyke lines, drainage culverts, pumping stations and key areas, proactively develop response plans according to the "4 on-site" motto, minimizing damage caused by flooding.
