On the evening of September 2, at Tay Do Park, the City Party Committee, People's Council (VPC), People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City solemnly held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The program is also connected to the bridge point at Xa No Park, Vi Tan Ward (old Hau Giang Province) and Urban Area 5A, Phu Loi Ward (old Soc Trang Province).
Speaking at the program, Mr. Dong Van Thanh - Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City - said that promoting the spirit of national solidarity, the Party Committee, government and people of Can Tho City are determined to unite, strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully carry out the cause of industrialization - modernization of the country and building sustainable development of Can Tho City.
Continuing the tradition of patriotism and steadfastness of the homeland, with its central location in the Mekong Delta region with many potential, advantages and cultural identity of the river region, it has created favorable conditions for Can Tho City in economic development, connecting transportation and international integration, gradually affirming its central role of the region, especially in trade, services, tourism, healthcare, education... especially from July 1 this year, Can Tho City and Soc Trang province, Hau Giang province merged into a new Can Tho with a new position and new vision.
The Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City said that, strongly promoting the proactive spirit, the will to be self-reliant and self-reliant, in the coming time, the Party Committee, government, people and army of Can Tho City will continue to synchronously carry out the tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security, Party building, building the political system in the spirit of Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Can Tho City to 2030, with a vision to 2045, determined to successfully carry out key tasks.
Can Tho City will also promote propaganda and education about the history of the city's formation and outstanding achievements in recent times; strongly arouse the love of homeland, country, good traditions of the nation, honor, pride, and sense of responsibility of cadres, party members and people.
Along with that is to call for and promote all resources, potentials and advantages, strive to build and develop Can Tho into a regional center city, an ecological, civilized, modern city, imbued with the identity of rivers in the Mekong Delta, contributing positively and more to the common achievements of the whole country.
Representing the young generation of Can Tho City, Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien said that today's youth wish to continue to practice and contribute, to affirm their pioneering role in all fields. The young generation of Can Tho will continuously practice their qualities and political courage, uphold revolutionary ideals, and foster the desire to contribute to the Fatherland.
