On June 2, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province requested relevant departments, branches, localities and units to continue to strictly, synchronously and effectively implement forest management, protection and fire prevention and fighting measures.
In particular, forest owners, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities need to urgently overcome shortcomings and limitations, paying attention to arranging forces to be on duty 24/24, including holidays and days off in key areas, especially when there are forest fire warnings at level IV, V - high to extremely dangerous fire risk.
The goal is to absolutely not have forest fires.
The province assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to be responsible for inspecting, supervising, and urging localities and units to carry out fire prevention and fighting tasks. At the same time, the department is responsible for promptly handling situations arising under its authority and advising the Provincial People's Committee on contents beyond its authority according to the provisions of law.
The report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said that from the beginning of 2025 to now, no forest fires have been recorded in Khanh Hoa.
However, PCCCR work should not be subjective, because many areas are at high risk of fire during the prolonged hot season.
In Nha Trang City, there are a total of 1,389.47 hectares of forest at risk of fire, including 518.15 hectares of natural forest and 871.32 hectares of planted forest. Dien Khanh district is also warned with 5,380.40 hectares of flammable production forests, concentrated in areas such as Am Chua and Hon Mu Lua.
Khanh Vinh district alone has up to 7,185 hectares of planted forests and about 13,500 hectares of forests managed by Khanh Hoa Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. - these are all key areas that need to be strengthened in inspection, supervision and readiness to respond during the dry season.
Khanh Hoa provincial leaders stated that PCCCR work must be carried out seriously, not subjective or negligent; it is necessary to be proactive from forecasting, prevention to responding to and overcoming consequences if incidents occur, in order to protect the forest ecosystem and the safety of the community.
