Cao Bang - Experts and meteorological agencies have warned that heavy rain will appear in the locality from noon and evening this evening.

On October 6, Typhoon No. 11 weakened into a tropical depression on the mainland of Guangxi province (China), about 60 km east of Cao Bang, with strong winds of level 89.

The risk of strong winds in Vietnam has decreased, but the storm circulation still causes heavy rain in the Northeast region, especially Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen.

According to the Cao Bang Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, from noon and afternoon on October 6, the rain will increase rapidly, with some places having very heavy rain tonight. The common rainfall recorded was 1020 mm, with some points over 25 mm such as Ha Lang 39 mm, Canh Tan 28 mm.

It is forecasted that by the end of the night of October 7, the whole province will have heavy to very heavy rain, 100200 mm, some places over 300 mm; from October 8, the rain will decrease rapidly. Level 1 natural disaster risk warning.

Heavy rain can cause landslides, flooding, broken trees, damage to houses, works, affect traffic and crops. The provincial Hydrometeorological Station also issued a warning that there is a high possibility that rivers flowing through the flood area will reach alert level 3. The flood amplitude is forecast to be about 3-6m.

In the face of the above situation, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Bang province continued to request hydropower reservoir owners to release water to the dead water level before 12:00 on October 6 to increase the capacity to receive floodwaters, not discharge at the same time and notify the authorities at least 4 hours in advance.

The Provincial Civil Defense Command and local authorities must be on duty 24/7, closely monitoring floods, promptly warning, and evacuating people in dangerous areas.

The Department of Industry and Trade coordinates to inspect the operation of reservoirs, reserve essential goods and control the market, prevent speculation and price increases during floods.

The Provincial People's Committee requests units to seriously implement and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
