On September 22, Quang Ninh City People's Committee held a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the pre-feasibility study report of the Cua Luc 2 bridge project.
According to the pre-feasibility study report, the project has a total length of 5.2km. The main bridge section is 1.28km long, the rest is the approach bridge and approach roads on both sides connecting to National Highway 18 and National Highway 279.
The project is designed with 10 car lanes, of which connecting to National Highway 18 is a multi-layered grade-separated intersection. The main bridge part is designed with 2 floors, of which the 1st floor is functional infrastructure serving commerce, tourism, and services.
The consulting unit has proposed a number of bridge architectural design options; solutions that allow to promote the ability to master domestic design, technology and construction.
Giving opinions on the pre-feasibility study report of this bridge project, Mr. Bui Van Khang - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of Quang Ninh City People's Committee - requested that this bridge must be one of the symbolic works identifying Quang Ninh city.
The bridge is not only a simple connecting traffic project, but also a unique architectural work, fully functional to serve commercial, tourism, service and festival organization development. Thereby, it is truly a driving force to promote the development space of Cua Luc Bay - the urban connection center of the city.
Mr. Khang requested the Construction Investment Project Management Board of Region I and departments and branches to complete the pre-feasibility study report of the project, prepare reports to submit to competent authorities, and at the same time review investment preparation procedures, and be ready to start the project in accordance with regulations.
Previously, Quang Ninh had put into operation 2 bridges across Cua Luc Bay, including Tinh Yeu bridge and Binh Minh bridge.
To contribute to enhancing the value of the Cua Luc Bay area, creating motivation for investors to enter the area and concretizing the plans approved by the Prime Minister, Quang Ninh has started construction of a number of traffic works around Cua Luc Bay, including the coastal road project extending from Tran Quoc Nghien street (near pier P4 of Bai Chay bridge) through Binh Minh bridge to Bang bridge, with an investment of 2,618 billion VND.
Cua Luc Bay, 18km2 wide, the deepest point 17m, located right next to Ha Long Bay, is planned as a connecting center, multi-polar, smart, green growth city, international standards of Quang Ninh province.
According to the new administrative boundary map after the merger, the Cua Luc Bay area currently has a part of the area belonging to the wards: Bai Chay, Cao Xanh, Viet Hung, Hoanh Bo and Thong Nhat commune today.
