Lighting up hope after decades of searching
According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, implementing the second peak period, the unit aims to collect 35,626 DNA samples from relatives of unidentified martyrs in the whole province. This is a particularly meaningful political task, demonstrating the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking" and deep affection for those who have offered their youth for national independence.

According to the plan, the campaign will be implemented from July 3 to July 20 in 166 communes and wards, with the synchronous participation of local Party committees, authorities and related departments and branches. The police force has closely coordinated with the Department of Home Affairs and other units to review, collect information, and update DNA data to serve the identification of martyrs' remains.
Previously, during the first peak period from May 12 to May 16, the Provincial Police did not hesitate to work hard, crossing the mountains and forests to remote rural areas, collecting 934 DNA samples. From the initial appraisal results, the identities of the two martyrs from Thanh Hoa, buried in Duc Co cemetery (Gia Lai) were determined, bringing great emotion and confidence to relatives.
No sample is left, no relatives are mistaken
According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, during the second peak period, the workload was huge when the number of samples collected was dozens of times higher, the area was large, many mountainous communes, remote areas. The working groups have fully prepared means and equipment, arranged concentrated collection points and reached the homes of elderly and single cases.

Deploying the collection of samples in Ha Trung commune on the first day, hundreds of martyrs' relatives were present to be instructed on declaration and collection of biological samples. Ms. Tran Thi Hop emotionally shared: "After more than 10 years of searching for my brother's grave, now that we have taken DNA samples, we have more hope to find him".
According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, to ensure the progress and quality of biological products, working groups worked through the day, even in the evening. As a result, as of July 3, the whole province has collected 1,153 DNA samples. In the coming days, Thanh Hoa Police will continue to deploy collection in all communes and wards, including Saturdays and Sundays, with the motto "no sample left behind, no relatives mistakenly".
Each DNA sample collected is not only scientific data for assessment but also a bridge connecting the past and present, bringing the martyrs back to their names, families and beloved homeland. This synchronous and humane deployment once again affirms the shock and affectionate role of the Thanh Hoa Police force in the journey to show gratitude to those who have fallen for the Fatherland.
