The investment project for the route connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway was approved by the Ministry of Transport on June 4, 2024 under Decision No. 699/QD-BGTVT, with a total investment of more than 692 billion VND from the central budget. The Department of Transport of Phu Tho province is the investor of this project.
According to the reporter's investigation at the National Bidding Network (website: muasamcong.mpi.gov.vn), the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Traffic, Civil and Industrial Works of Phu Tho Province (under the Department of Transport of Phu Tho Province) has just issued a Bidding Notice for Package No. 16: Construction of the project.
The above construction package is worth nearly VND510 billion. In the coming time, after the contractor selection results are approved, the construction unit will have a contract implementation period of 420 days. This is also one of the packages in the public announcement of the contractor selection plan in mid-July 2024.
According to the documents, the project is invested with the goal of improving exploitation capacity, minimizing traffic accidents, improving investment efficiency of Noi Bai - Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressways; gradually completing the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
At the same time, support the socio-economic development of Phu Tho province; contribute to the implementation of the goals of Resolution 11-NQ/TW of the Politburo on socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the midland and mountainous regions of the North.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in the area where the project will be implemented (Phu Tho town), on the Ho Chi Minh road connecting the end of Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho highway and the section connecting to IC9 intersection of Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, the traffic volume of cars, motorbikes, and non-motorized vehicles is increasingly crowded. The existing road section has only 2 lanes, the road surface is 11m wide, no longer meeting the demand.
Furthermore, in the future, when the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway is put into use, the traffic volume on the two expressways Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho and Noi Bai - Lao Cai will increase even more... Therefore, investing in the construction of a traffic route connecting the two expressways is urgent and appropriate.
The route connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway will have a total length of more than 2.7km, with 2 items: the main expressway and the service road, the starting point connecting with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway, the end point connecting to Ho Chi Minh Road...
For the main highway, the 2 left lanes of the existing road will be invested in expansion, the roadbed width will be expanded to 12.75m (ensuring the completed scale of 4 lanes, roadbed width of 24.75m).
With the service road, there will be a 5m wide roadbed, a 3.5m wide road surface, reaching the scale of a rural road. The project's route follows the direction of the Ho Chi Minh Highway currently in operation.
