On the morning of March 17, Da Nang City People's Committee organized a conference to summarize civil defense work in 2025 and deploy tasks for 2026.
According to the People's Committee of Hung Son commune, this is a particularly difficult mountainous area, bordering, with a natural area of up to 287.69km2 after the merger of 4 communes (Tr'hy, Axan, Gari and Ch'om). With a strongly divided terrain, the commune often faces flash floods and landslides.
During storm No. 12 in 2025, the commune had to urgently relocate 243 households with more than 1,200 people to safe places. In terms of property, storms and floods caused damage to 10 houses from 30-50%, serious landslides on DH4 road, sweeping away 5 cows and 1 buffalo. In particular, the Arooi village area was issued a decision by the city to declare an emergency situation for natural disasters due to landslides.
The geological situation in A Vuong commune has also been determined to be at an alarming level. The City People's Committee has also issued a decision on announcing an emergency situation for subsidence with risk of landslides in Ga'lau and Arec villages of A Vuong commune.
The subsidence situation in these villages directly threatens the safety of residential clusters along the river basin. Therefore, it is necessary to re-plan and relocate residents here before the 2026 rainy and flood season begins.

According to Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Pham Duc An, total natural disaster damage in 2025 is estimated at more than 4,130 billion VND. Therefore, in 2026, Chairman Pham Duc An requested: "People's safety must be the highest goal".
Mr. An requested departments, branches and localities to urgently review and arrange residents in areas at high risk of landslides and flash floods, especially in Hung Son and A Vuong. Strictly control the construction of riverside infrastructure and flood-prone areas. Invest in new and upgrade long-term disaster prevention works such as dyke systems, dams and community houses combined with flood avoidance.
Promote the application of science and technology, use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), satellite images and artificial intelligence (AI) models in disaster risk forecasting and monitoring. Strictly maintain the "4 on-the-spot" motto, improve the capacity of commune-level disaster prevention and control shock teams (with the current number of 11,109 people) to respond from the first hour.

Do not be passive or surprised in any situation. Units must urgently overcome shortcomings, carefully prepare scenarios for super typhoon and flash flood situations to absolutely protect the lives and property of the people" - Chairman Pham Duc An affirmed.
