On September 28 and 29, prolonged heavy rain caused by storm No. 10 caused the water level of many rivers in Thanh Hoa to rise, causing widespread flooding.
On the evening of September 29, on the right dike of Cau Chay River, Xuan Tin - Yen Phu commune section, the water rose and overflowed the dike surface, threatening about 200 households with 600 people. Yen Phu Commune Police have advised on implementing an evacuation plan for people at night, mobilizing all forces and security teams to evacuate people and property from the danger zone.

At about 9:00 p.m. the same day, a dike overflow incident of more than 200 m occurred in Phuc Boi village, Tho Lap commune. More than 50 police officers, soldiers and local forces immediately reinforced and built the dike. After 2 hours, the problem was basically resolved.
In Ha Long commune, at 11pm, the water level of the Hoat River rose rapidly, posing a risk of overflowing the dike in Song Nga and Quan Chiem villages. The commune police coordinated with Division 390 and local forces to reinforce more than 1,600m of the dike, completed at nearly 2:00 a.m. on September 30.
At the same time, the police of many other communes and wards in Nong Cong, Tuong Linh, Dong Thanh, Ha Trung, Tan Ninh, Cam Thuy... also evacuated people all night to prevent floods. The image of police officers and soldiers wintering in floods, "time-ats" to protect the safety of life and property has been recognized by the Party Committee, government and people, as a reliable and solid support in the midst of natural disasters.

On the morning of September 30, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Director of Thanh Hoa Hydrometeorological Station - said: The flood level on Yen River at Chuoi, Am River at Lang Chanh, upstream of Ma River, Chu River has peaked and is slowly decreasing.
However, the downstream of the Ma River, the Len River, the Buoi River, and the Cau Chay River will continue to rise, commonly above alert level III. Notably, floods on Cau Chay River at Ngoc Lac, Yen River at Chuoi, and Ma River at Cam Thuy have exceeded historical flood levels.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the flood level downstream of the Ma River, Buoi River, Cau Chay River, and Len River will continue to rise, with some places likely to reach or exceed the historic flood. Residential areas outside the dike and low-lying areas along rivers and streams are recommended to urgently deploy measures to ensure people's safety.
