Witnessing the collapsed welcome gate in Le Binh ward, Cai Rang district, Can Tho city, Mr. Nguyen Van dum - security guard of a bank nearby - said that the incident happened at around 9:00 a.m. on June 12.
According to Mr. dum, at that time, there were strong winds and started to show showers.
"At that time, I was collecting helmets to avoid getting wet. After gathering, he entered the room and saw the welcome gate broken. At that time, I saw one pillar of the welcome gate being peeled off, while the other pillar was still stuck, Mr. dum said.

Mr. Dum also said that when the welcome gate collapsed, there were no vehicles passing through and no one were injured. However, a scooter of a bank employee was damaged in the front.


According to Lao Dong Newspaper, the connection point of the welcome gate and the iron mound of the gate body is rusty. One side no longer has connections, the other side only has a small connection.
Mr. Tieu Chi Nguyen - Chairman of the People's Committee of Le Binh Ward, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City - informed that at about 9:15 a.m. on June 12, the welcome gate of the ward was located on Le Binh Street, more than 5m high, more than 7m wide, made of iron frame, suddenly collapsed in a storm with strong winds.


The Chairman of the Ward People's Committee added that the incident caused local traffic congestion and damaged a motorbike parked on the side of the road, with no casualties.
Mr. Nguyen said that immediately after the incident, the locality mobilized forces to clear the scene for nearly 1 hour, and traffic returned to normal.
