Dak Lak warns of landslide risk in many areas

BẢO TRUNG |

Continuous rain in recent days has caused landslides in many locations in Dak Lak province, affecting people.

On December 25, the Standing Office of Vinasarcom in Dak Lak province informed that in recent days, there has been widespread rain in the province, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain...

Some areas in the area have had heavy rain in a short period of time, causing flooding in low-lying areas. Many areas are at risk of landslides on steep hillsides and along rivers and streams.

Mr. Y Chen MLo - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of M'Drak district said: "In the past few days, it has been raining non-stop, fortunately there has not been any localized flooding in the district yet."

According to Mr. Y Chen MLo, to ensure that people's crops in the 2024 - 2025 Winter-Spring crop are not damaged, we are still closely monitoring the situation.

Localities also recommend that people proactively prevent natural disasters and floods if it continues to rain for a long time.

According to research, the entire Dak Lak province has about 100 landslide risk points. If landslides occur during the rainy season, many areas are at risk of being partially isolated.

Landslide risk areas on steep slopes with loose, weak soil and riverside areas in Buon Don, Cu Kuin, Krong Ana districts...

Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee requested localities to develop specific plans for each landslide-prone area to ensure people's safety.

Faced with the above situation, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province has requested localities to monitor and warn people about heavy rain, floods, flash floods, landslides...

Thereby, there are measures to respond and protect crops for people in the Winter-Spring crop.

Authorities are checking residential areas at high risk of flooding and landslides to proactively evacuate people to safety.
