Resolution of the 17th Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Congress set the target of reducing the poverty rate of the whole province by an average of over 3% per year. In 2023, the poverty rate in Tuyen Quang will decrease by 3.71%, exceeding the annual plan, with no more poor households whose members are people with revolutionary contributions.
This result was achieved thanks to the participation of the entire political system, the spirit of consensus and determination of all levels and sectors, especially the role of Party committees at all levels.
Party committees always identify poverty reduction as one of the key tasks. Especially for districts and communes in mountainous areas, ethnic minority areas, where the poverty rate is high. To realize this, poverty reduction targets are spent, the Party committees develop and unify them into monthly and quarterly resolutions. Strengthen the assignment of Party organizations and Party members to help poor households.
Mr. Dang Tai Huyen (Tien Toc village, Binh An commune, Lam Binh district) said that thanks to the mobilization of Party Secretary Trang A Dinh, in early 2023, his family borrowed 100 million VND to develop the economy. Since then, the family's life has turned a new page, the economy has gradually stabilized.
"At first, there were many worries about borrowing a large amount of money, but after being guided, the family boldly invested in economic development. Without the dedicated guidance of local authorities, we would not have boldly invested.
With capital in hand, I planted 2 more hectares of acacia forest, then built barns, bought 3 buffaloes and 4 cows to fatten, and raised black pigs. When things started to get back on track, life improved significantly. Now my family has more than 4 hectares of acacia forest and income from many other models," Huyen confided.
According to Mr. Huyen, at the end of 2023, his family harvested over 2 hectares of acacia forest, after deducting expenses, they earned a profit of over 150 million VND. Up to now, the family has escaped poverty and has a stable economy to improve their lives.
According to Ms. Ma Thi Ly - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Son Commune (Lam Binh), to help people develop the economy, reduce poverty quickly and sustainably, Party committees at all levels, the Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations have increased their mobilization. The goal is to change awareness, so that poor households can determine that escaping poverty is the responsibility of their own families.
"Party committees at all levels have promptly encouraged and guided poor and near-poor households to gain knowledge and experience in labor and production, and proactively strive to escape poverty.
At the end of 2023, Phuc Son commune had 952 poor households. With synchronous solutions, in 2024, the commune is confident of completing the plan to reduce 85 households (a reduction of 7.18%)," the leader added.
Lam Binh district identifies poverty reduction as a key and urgent task, with the goal of reducing the poverty rate by over 6% per year. By 2025, the locality strives to reduce the number of poor and near-poor households by half compared to the beginning of the period.
In Na Hang district, the Resolution of the 22nd Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, sets the target of reducing the average poverty rate by 3 - 4%/year.
