On August 23, Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee directed localities to proactively respond to complicated weather and storm developments.
In recent days, prolonged heavy rain has caused damage to traffic infrastructure and people's houses in the western area. Specifically, in Mang Ri commune, prolonged heavy rain has caused the roofs of 16 households in the area to be blown off and damaged.
In particular, a positive taluy landslide overflowed into the road in Mo Za village, with an estimated volume of about 10,000m3 of soil. In addition, there are 3 other landslide points in the villages in the commune.
On National Highway 40B, the section passing through Kon Dao and Tu Mo Rong communes, there are 4 positive taluy landslide points and 2 road subsidence points. The Van Roi pass bypass also has many landslide points, soil and rocks accompanied by sludge from high hills falling onto the road.
In Dak Long commune, there are 3 households directly affected by landslides, riverbank erosion in Dak Ak village and landslides in the hill area in Dak On village. These locations are at risk of continuing landslides, threatening people's houses and property.
The government of Quang Ngai province requests communes to immediately relocate households affected by landslides to safe places, especially households in Dak Ak village; not to let people return to dangerous areas.
In 2025, a series of key roads, projects, and infrastructure in western Quang Ngai also suffered heavy damage due to continuous rains and floods.
