People are upset
Reporters from Lao Dong Newspaper present at the Project "Renovation and upgrading of National Highway 8C from Thien Cam - National Highway 1" in Cam Xuyen district recorded that many sections of the road have been dug up quite deep by construction units with signs of being dug for a long time but not yet having filled the ground.
The excavation of the road surface has affected the travel, business and trading of people on both sides of the road. Therefore, many people when asked were complained, showing frustration with the construction unit digging the road but slowly pouring land leveling and luam to limit the impact on the people.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (born in 1989), who rented a beauty care service store on National Highway 8C (in residential group 13, Cam Xuyen town) said: "This road has been dug up for about a month now but has not been filled. Because they dig like this, customers do not have a place to park when they come, making it inconvenient to enter the restaurant, leading to losses in my business, customers get about 50% off".
Many people hope that the construction unit will speed up the progress and complete the project soon to make travel and trade more convenient.
Land clearance problems
Mr. Nguyen Nhu Quynh - Chairman of Cam Xuyen Town People's Committee - informed: The project "Renovation and upgrading of National Highway 8C from Thien Cam - National Highway 1" through Cam Xuyen Town has just been constructed with part of the road surface being dug up but slowly filling the ground, affecting people's travel and business, and also posing a potential risk of insecurity.
According to Mr. Quynh, the weather is now sunny, hoping that the contractor will soon focus on construction to minimize the impact on the people.
A leader of the Ha Tinh Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the project "Renovation and upgrading of National Highway 8C from Thien Cam - National Highway 1" in Cam Xuyen district is currently facing problems with site clearance with some households and some sections with un relocated power lines. Along with the recent incident, the rainy weather has caused the construction unit to not yet construct the filling soil at some locations.
The project has reached nearly 50% of the volume, expected to be completed and handed over in October 2025. We will continue to request Cam Xuyen district to hand over 100% of the site soon to speed up the progress, said a representative of the Ha Tinh Traffic Project Management Board.
The project "Renovation and upgrading of National Highway 8C from Thien Cam - National Highway 1 in Cam Xuyen district" is 11km long, with a total construction contract value of more than 224.7 billion VND, invested by the Department of Transport of Ha Tinh province (now the Department of Construction). The project has been under construction since October 2023.
