Power grid not yet relocated, construction site in disarray
Currently, units are urgently constructing the project to upgrade and expand DT 748 road phase 1 (from Ring Road 4 intersection in Ho Chi Minh City to An Dien intersection, Long Nguyen ward, Ho Chi Minh City). This is an important traffic infrastructure project to connect industrial parks and urban areas in Long Nguyen ward and Ben Cat ward with Ring Road 4 in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the project has a total investment of 3,143 billion VND, of which construction costs are about 463 billion VND, and site clearance costs are about 2,284 billion VND. Phase 1 has a length of about 5km, building a 6-lane road.
Regarding site clearance, currently most individuals and organizations on both sides of the road have received compensation money and handed over land. However, the power grid infrastructure running along the road (direction from An Dien roundabout to Ring Road 4 HCMC) has not been relocated. This is a bottleneck that greatly affects the progress of this project.
Regarding construction, the project has not yet completed the installation of drainage culverts. Both sides are being compacted, pouring rocks to make the roadbed and sidewalks. Road surface construction is also affected when the power poles have not been relocated. After nearly a year of construction, the project is still messy.
Potential risks of accidents for people
Through records, the project implementation process revealed many potential dangers for traffic participants. When constructing the road, some deep water pits appeared right on the edge of the road for vehicles to move. However, the warning signs and ropes are very rudimentary.
I often travel on this route. There are many power poles and deep holes on the road, if I travel during the day, I can observe and avoid them. However, at night, it is dark, difficult to observe, very dangerous. I am most afraid of being run parallel by trucks and container trucks, forcing motorbikes to the side of the road. I hope that the construction unit will put up many warning signs and fill the deep holes close to the roadside so that people can travel more safely" - Mr. Van Tinh (39 years old, residing in Thoi Hoa ward) - shared.
During the construction process, vehicles passing by also generated dust, affecting people on both sides of the road. To reduce dust, households had to buy tarpaulins and nets to cover the front of the doors. For the most part, the business of households was affected.
The construction of the road also affects the travel of households on both sides. Some households in Group 7, An My neighborhood, Long Nguyen ward are blocked from entering their houses.
In addition, some households have ponds appearing right in front of their houses. This also poses potential safety risks for local people.
When it rains, it's muddy, when it's sunny, it's dusty. I have to buy tarpaulins to cover the front of the door, for more than half a year my family has not been able to trade anything. Many places have water stagnation, posing dangerous risks for people when traveling through here. The people's wish is that the construction unit carefully barricades the deep water pockets. At the same time, speed up the project construction progress" - Ms. Thu An (52 years old, resident of Long Nguyen ward) - expressed her wish. Will review and overcome
Talking to reporters, a representative of the construction unit said that they will review the waterlogged sections that affect people's walkways and fix them immediately. At the same time, they will arrange additional ropes, warning signs, and guide people to circulate. The electricity unit also said that it will coordinate with the local authorities to review and will provide information later.
