The project to renovate and upgrade the connecting road from Lang Giang bridge to National Highway 70 in the old Bao Thang district is one of the key traffic projects of Lao Cai province.
The total investment of the project is more than 236 billion VND, the length of the route is 13.25km ( starting point at Loi intersection, Thai Nien commune, ending point at Km106+200, Provincial Road 154, Phong Nien commune).
The route is designed to be a grade IV mountainous road, with a roadbed width of 7.5m and a road surface width of 5.5m. The project has 1 item of Coc Sam bridge 15m long and 9m wide.

In mid-August, when traveling along Provincial Road 161 from Lang Giang bridge to the intersection of Lim village, Xuan Quang commune, this hundred-billion-dong connecting route has taken shape.
According to records, most of this connecting road has been paved, so people and vehicles can move comfortably here.
The construction is entering the final stages of drainage ditches and railings on both sides of the road. However, there are still some short sections of road that have not been paved due to land clearance problems.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoan (residing in Xuan Quang commune, Lao Cai province) shared: "This road connecting Provincial Road 161 with National Highway 70 has been under construction for several years and has basically been paved with asphalt, so we can travel normally. We hope that the contractor and investor will soon complete the road to ensure safety and convenience for people's travel".
Through investigation, the project is undertaken by the consortium of Cao Minh Construction Company Limited - Lao Cai Construction and Inspection Joint Stock Company. The project started in 2021 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

According to the Lao Cai Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor), the project's construction progress is currently over 90%, due to site clearance problems and windy weather, the implementation process has been partially interrupted.
The contractor is implementing items on drainage, lighting and ensuring traffic safety.
On August 16, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Pham Minh Hai - Deputy Director of the Lao Cai Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board - said: "From now until the end of 2025, the road will have to be completed and handed over. The project is also a bit delayed due to the rainy weather and site clearance.
Along with that, some items to enhance traffic safety and lighting near intersections and densely populated areas have been added, so they are also under construction.

According to Mr. Pham Minh Hai, after the communes have organized the congress, the Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board will coordinate to propagate site clearance. At the same time, urge contractors to speed up the construction of the remaining items to put the road into use by the end of 2025.
