On November 16, according to information from Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the second runway at the Long Thanh airport project has basically completed the groundbreaking work, and is undergoing the construction of the crushed stone aggregate layer reaching 72.6% and the 150/25 cement concrete structure reaching 60.58%.
ACV is continuing to mobilize personnel, machinery and equipment in the coming time to meet the goal of completing the cement concrete part before December 19, 2025; ensuring completion and putting it into operation in June 2026 according to the required schedule.
Progress according to the contract: the second runway will start construction on May 30, 2025 and be completed in June 2026.
The second runway, 4 km long and 75 m wide, is currently under simultaneous construction.
The construction contractor is the joint venture ACC - Truong Son - Vinaconex - Vinadic - ACJC647-Khanh Thien-VTG.
The contract value is VND 2,570.36 billion (of which VND 2,364.73 billion is the construction value, excluding replenishment fees).
ACV has directed the contractor consortium to make the most of the weather to carry out the construction.
To proactively source supply and avoid interruption of progress, more than 100,000 m3 of materials have been gathered at the construction site since the first stage.
Component project 3 - Essential works in the Airport under the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1 invested by ACV include 14 packages.
The scale of phase 1 of the project with 2 runways, 1 passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year; 1.2 million tons of cargo/year.
At the same time, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, ACV has issued Document No. 4219/TTr-TCTCHKVN dated September 24, 2025 reporting to the Government, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Construction to immediately deploy the third runway and phase 2 of Long Thanh International Airport in accordance with the provisions of law.
