On the afternoon of August 20, people living along Le The Hieu Street (Dong Ha Ward, Quang Tri Province) discovered that the newly paved road had collapsed, forming a small hole.
Worried that traffic participants would be in danger, people left a plastic box to cover the mouth of the hole.
Mr. Pham Van Dung - Chairman of Dong Ha Ward People's Committee said that upon receiving the information, Dong Ha Ward People's Committee has directed relevant units to check and place warning signs, and at the same time find the cause to immediately fix it.

Mr. Thai Vinh Hai - Director of the Dong Ha Ward Investment and Construction Project Management Board said that the road section with a sinkhole has just been constructed, part of the urban renovation project of the old Dong Ha city. This road section has been completed, but has not been accepted for payment and has not been handed over for use.
According to Mr. Thai Vinh Hai, the unit came to check and showed that the sinkhole was about 50cm deep and about 50cm in diameter. The reason for the sinkhole is that the culvert system across the road has an open connection. Suddenly, there was a heavy rain, water sprayed from the opening, pushing away the layer of soil, rock, and sand below.
"We have worked with the construction unit, and will start handling the missing connection in the culvert tomorrow, then re-construct completely" - Mr. Thai Vinh Hai said.
