Located in the Northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, Tan Thoi Nhat 08 route, Dong Hung Thuan ward (formerly District 12) plays an important role in connecting traffic axes such as Phan Van Hon, Pham Dang Giang, M1 road, Road No. 18 and Le Duc Anh (National Highway 1). However, as traffic volume increases, the infrastructure of this route is seriously degraded, with many potholes that pose a potential risk to traffic safety and greatly affect people's lives.

At a press conference to inform about socio-economic issues in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of October 23, a representative of Dong Hung Thuan ward said that they were aware of the serious deterioration of Tan Thoi Nhat 08 road surface, causing difficulties for people when traveling.
Regarding this issue, Dong Hung Thuan ward has proposed that the District 12 Project Management Board carry out temporary maintenance and repair. Up to now, the construction unit has leveled and patched the potholes on the route, this work has been carried out for 2 days. Due to the rainy weather, it is expected that the asphalt paving will be completed this weekend, ensuring traffic safety for people during the project waiting period.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper on October 24, many low-lying sections on Tan Thoi Nhat 08 Street have been paved with crushed stone for temporary repair. However, because the road surface has not been compacted, vehicles traveling here must still reduce speed to ensure safety.

Running a small beverage shop on Tan Thoi Nhat08 Street, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Trang (Dong Hung Thuan Ward) said that the scene of people falling off a tree due to going into a pot of chicken often happens.
"On rainy days, this area is often flooded, many people on the road fall, especially students who pass by without paying attention, easily slipping and falling. Now that the road is paved with crushed stone, traveling this rainy season will be a little less worrying, but I still hope to soon have a beautiful, complete road for traffic," said Ms. Trang.

According to information from the Ward People's Committee, the project to upgrade and expand Tan Thoi Nhat 08 road was approved by the city under Resolution No. 12 dated July 6, 2017 and approved by the Department of Transport (now the Department of Construction) in Decision No. 6154 dated October 30, 2018. However, the implementation process was prolonged due to the need to adjust the roadway to comply with the planning - from the original proposal of 20 m to 25 m.
Currently, the District 12 Project Management Board (under the Department of Construction) has proposed that the Department of Finance consider an adjustment plan with a cross-section of 25 m, a total length of 940 m and a total estimated investment of more than 879 billion VND. When the city approves the adjustment of the investment policy, the project is expected to start construction in 2026 and be completed in 2027.
