Van Don Special Zone, Quang Ninh province is preparing procedures to implement the Project "Renovation, upgrading and expansion of the central road of Tra Ban island" to gradually complete the transport connection system, promote socio-economic development and ensure national defense and security in the sea and island area.
Accordingly, about 11.8km of the central road of Tra Ban island will be upgraded and expanded, with the starting point at Km8+660, Na San port area, and the ending point at Km20+481 (connecting to the ending point of the bridge project across the Mang River channel, connecting to Quan Lan and Minh Chau islands under construction.
After upgrading and expanding, this road section will meet the standard of a level IV mountain road with a roadbed width of 12m, of which the road surface width is 11m.
The total investment capital of the project is 717.346 billion VND, from the budget of Van Don Special Zone. The expected implementation time is from now until 2029.
Currently, according to assessments, the demand for travel from the mainland to Tra Ban island through Na San port is increasing, while the Mang River bridge project connecting Tra Ban island and Minh Chau - Quan Lan island is being invested in construction.
Therefore, focusing on completing transport infrastructure from Na San port to Mang river bridge will help soon form a connecting route from Tra Ban island to Minh Chau - Quan Lan island, thereby attracting tourists to the island, promoting local tourism activities, forming a tourist route across Tra Ban - Minh Chau - Quan Lan island, and promoting the effectiveness of the Mang river bridge being invested in.
Tra Ban Island, belonging to Van Don Special Zone, Quang Ninh province, is the largest island in the Van Hai archipelago, with an area of about 140 km2. The terrain is mainly low hills and mountains, the common altitude is from 20 - 200m, the highest peak is about 450 m; the terrain is strongly divided, many sections are attached to mountain slopes and coastlines. Forests account for a large proportion, about 65-70% of the natural land area, mainly protection forests and production forests.
