On the afternoon of September 17, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Dinh Thi Khanh, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Da Bac commune, said that the victim's family had a special situation.
The family includes Mr. X.V. D. (born 1975), Ms. D. T. L. (born 1979) and Ms. X.T. C. (born 1949). Among them, Ms. C. is Mr. D.'s aunt, living with her nephew. The couple has one child who has been on military service in Quang Ninh for 2 years.
According to Ms. Khanh, the family used to be a poor household and was supported to build a house. It was not until 2024 that the family escaped poverty.
Immediately after the incident occurred, the Fatherland Front Committee of Da Bac commune mobilized unions to the scene, supported and encouraged the relatives of the victims.
As Lao Dong newspaper reported, around dawn on September 17, a landslide occurred at the house of Mr. X.V. D. in Tu Ly village, Da Bac commune. A large amount of soil and rock from the hill area behind poured down, collapsing the walls of 2 bedrooms and burying 3 people.
Functional forces of Phu Tho province actively searched. After the process of implementation, functional forces found 3 victims. All 3 people were identified as dead.
Immediately after the incident, Mr. Pham Dai Duong, Provincial Party Secretary; Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Major General Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of the Provincial Police directly inspected and directed the response and search for victims at the scene.
Currently, functional forces continue to protect and handle the scene, overcome the consequences and implement measures to prevent the risk of continued landslides.
