Racing to evacuate before the storm makes landfall
It is forecasted that from noon on November 6, the circulation of storm No. 13 will begin to cause strong winds, big waves and heavy rain in the coastal areas of Gia Lai province. From the evening of the same day, the storm will make landfall directly, causing waves 7-9m high, high tides and sea water to rise throughout the Quy Nhon - Phu Cat - Hoai Nhon route.

These are areas warned to be most affected, with storm winds of level 12.14, the risk of destroying coastal houses, aquaculture cages and seriously threatening people's lives if they are slow to evacuate.
On land, the storm's circulation is forecast to cause very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 200-400mm, some places over 600mm. Risk of deep flooding, isolation in low-lying areas, rivers and streams; landslides, flash floods on mountain slopes and positive slopes, especially in the areas of Hoai An, Vinh Thanh, An Khe, Mang Yang, Kbang, Kong Chro. Some key traffic routes such as An Khe Pass, Mang Yang Pass, To Na Pass... are likely to experience prolonged landslides and congestion.

Faced with the complicated developments, on the morning of November 6, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent telegram, requesting the mobilization of maximum forces to evacuate people from dangerous areas, to be completed before 10:00 a.m. the same day - before the storm makes landfall.
"Local authorities immediately established working groups to each village and neighborhood to review and enforce the evacuation of 100% of households in coastal areas, river mouths, high tides, big waves, and weak temporary houses. Absolutely do not leave people on boats or cages. Do not let people go hungry, lack shelter and do not return when it is not safe," emphasized the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee.

The whole province plans to evacuate more than 93,000 households with more than 340,000 people. As of 8:00 a.m. on November 6, localities have evacuated nearly 5,000 households (more than 15,000 people); Currently, many communes and wards in the eastern part of the province are continuing to update relocation data.
People in flood-prone areas take shelter from the storm
In Tuy Phuoc Dong commune - a low-lying area known as the "flood center", the government has basically completed the evacuation of nearly 3,000 households in vulnerable areas to safe shelters.
Mr. Duong Minh Tan - Chairman of Tuy Phuoc Dong Commune People's Committee - said that in recent days, the locality has continuously updated information, notified and mobilized people to proactively build houses and urgently leave the danger zone.

"During the evacuation campaign, 3 households in the danger zone refused to go, and the locality was forced to use coercive measures. Currently, the evacuation work has been basically completed, all people in the dangerous area have been taken to safe shelters. The locality has prepared enough food, drinking water, and medicine to serve people during the storm shelter period," said Mr. Tan.
With the support of the government to evacuate Phuoc Hoa Primary School No. 2, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuc (born in 1972, residing in Tuy Phuoc Dong commune) shared: "At first, I hesitated and did not plan to go because I was still worried about my house and garden. But hearing that this storm was too big, I went to save my life first. The government has prepared enough food and drinks for the evacuation of people, so I am assured, not afraid of hunger or thirst".
People in the Gia Lai plateau are struggling to stay home to avoid storm No. 13
Communes and wards in the western area of Gia Lai proactively respond to the developments of storms, circulation and flooding after the storm.
On November 6, due to the complicated developments of storm No. 13, people in Ayun Pa ward used sandbags and water bags to tie up their roofs, proactively responding when the storm was forecast to make landfall tonight and early tomorrow morning.

Currently, communes such as Ia Tul, Ia Sao and Ayun Pa ward are urgently evacuating people living along the Ba river basin and low-lying areas to high, safe places.
In Ayun Pa ward, the government has mobilized and supported people in areas at risk of being severely affected, including groups 1 and 4 (old Cheo Reo ward), groups 8, 9, 10 (old Doan Ket ward) and group 6 (old Song Bo ward), proactively tied up houses and protecting property.

In communes that are often affected by floods such as Ia Hiao and Ia Pa, authorities have actively evacuated people in areas along rivers and streams; at the same time, warn people to absolutely not go through culverts or overflow when the water rises.
Commune police have put up warning signs, erected barriers at deeply flooded and overflowing areas; prevented people and vehicles from passing through dangerous areas.
In particular, health units prioritize supporting pregnant and newborn women, and at the same time, make a list and send it to Phu Thien Regional Medical Center for timely care and support coordination.
