Speeding up flood clearance
On the morning of November 5, on the central axes of Le Loi, Dong Da, Nguyen Hue, Le Quy Don..., hundreds of union members and young people mobilized by the Hue City Youth Union to collect garbage, dredge mud, clear sewers, aiming to restore the "green - clean - bright" appearance of the main routes and support low-lying residential areas.
At the same time, the City Police and armed forces coordinated to clean up schools, medical stations, and public areas. Lieutenant Colonel Ta Van Tu - Political Commissar of the 6th Regiment - said that the unit prioritized supporting schools, markets, and public areas; then increased equipment and numbers to overcome severely affected areas. By the morning of November 5, most schools were no longer flooded and were urgently cleaning to welcome students soon.
The education sector implements general cleaning as soon as the water recedes, sprays disinfectants, disinfectants, and disinfection to prevent epidemics. Director of the Department of Education and Training Nguyen Tan said that many schools have proactively protected their assets, raised tables and chairs - moved equipment; damage to industry-wide items is estimated at about 17 billion VND, mainly first-floor tables and chairs, fences, fire protection systems, books, boarding items, computers and televisions are moist for a long time.
From the evening of November 3 to the morning of November 5, the health sector mobilized all forces from health centers in areas and commune health stations to mobilize specialized teams to organize environmental sanitation and large-scale disinfection in residential areas, schools, and markets, in order to quickly clean up - thoroughly disinfect, prevent epidemics after floods.
According to Hue Urban Environment & Construction Joint Stock Company (HEPCO), the amount of garbage after three consecutive floods increased by more than 2.5 times compared to normal days, concentrated in low-lying areas, markets, food areas and along canals. HEPCO mobilizes all efforts to clean up, scoop up mud, collect garbage at centers, schools, markets, agencies, and tourist routes; at the same time, organize garbage collection on the river to prevent stagnation and ensure drainage.
Recorded by Lao Dong reporter during 3 consecutive floods in Hue, in many places garbage was piled up thickly, just as the pile was collected and waiting to be moved, the water came up and swept it away. By now, many people are too tired from cleaning up floods. Therefore, the need to hire professional cleaning teams has skyrocketed as many businesses and households need to soon stabilize their activities. According to Mr. Dang Hanh (Hippo Wash service), in just 3 days the unit received more than 30 applications; In areas such as Bach Dang and Huynh Thuc Khang, the water on the street has not yet receded, so we have to use boats to transport machinery to the place.
